SanduneCC
Hi guys, what's the lightest gen 3 uncaptured SS guide rod for a fat G34 that needs to go on a diet. I have a Wolff and it's 1.5oz. Anything lighter than that?
wtturn
Look at jager products. I don't think it's terribly heavy Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
mikeyjones
Just trying to understand why go lighter? Sent from my Z812 using Tapatalk
SanduneCC
I just sent an email to Jager asking how much their SS guide rod weighs.
SanduneCC
mikeyjones, Because in Production, the gun can't exceed 2oz from original weight. I'm running aftermarket sights, barrel, +0 base pad and she's getting a little heavy.
kevin c
I think you can uncap the OEM plastic rod and use it with after market springs?
Southpaw
Are you sure about the Wolff being 1.5oz? That seems like a lot. I'm using the Zev extended stainless guide rod which goes all the way to the muzzle of the G34 and Zev says it's only .92oz (http://zevtechnologies.com/Products/Guide-Rods/ZEV-Stainless-Steel-Guide-Rod-Extended-Frame.html). Mine with that Zev guide rod and Dawson sights is 27oz. I think you can uncap the OEM plastic rod and use it with after market springs? You can. That'd be a cheap and effective way to go
SanduneCC
I think you can uncap the OEM plastic rod and use it with after market springs? Except that I do want the extra weight ... just not that much

SanduneCC
Just got an email from Jager, he said his is sub-one ounce. Looks like I will go that route.

I wasn't doubting you if you actually weighted it, thought maybe you just grabbed that weight off some web site which could have been wrong. If yours is standard length that does still seem high, not sure how they got it that heavy if it's stainless steel just like mine...interesting. I think you can uncap the OEM plastic rod and use it with after market springs? Except that I do want the extra weight ... just not that much Dude I think you're splitting hairs here. I can't imagine you'll feel a difference of half an ounce, at least I know I wouldn't.
Polymer
I would just use the oem base pads and use that weight for the guide rod if anything.
