MEGA Stage Match 2016

Recommended Posts

The 2016 MEGA Stage Match at Colorado Rifle Club is filling up. Held May 7th, 2016.

If you have not shot 3Gun, this might be a bit of high hurdle and if you have not shot action competition, you can not play, but are more than welcome to come out around noon, see a few people shoot and have a burger with us.
The precision allows a different gun if you wish. NO magnums and nothing over 3200 fps. If I have a question, you can't shoot it! 3 10" steels, 1 paper target (5 scored hits) and 1 spinner. It will be 20 rounds max, use them how you like after hitting the 10" steels. :)

Time-Plus scoring. 480 second time out. Rounds: 40 bird, 64 P, 60 R, 10 precision minimum. (174 rounds). 5 second FTN, 5 second Procedural, 10 second Unhit targets, 15 FTE.

You do NOT need a sling. I'd plan for shooting at least 20 extra pistol and rifle rounds. The SG is nothing tough except ammo management (No slugs, no buck, no spinner, easy shots). I will have 2 chest rigs for loaners. The pistol is a bit more challenging this year as is the precision rifle portion. If you are shooting .223, you will want match grade 69s or 77s and zero'd at 200 for precision.

$50 entry, cash payout. Burgers and awards following, must be present to claim any prizes.

Let me know if you have any questions.

The 2016 match is in the books. We had a great time, then awards, burgers and beer before the severe weather hit the range. Here is a video:

We know a few places have copied this match format and if you want to run one at your local club, feel free to ask me any questions and I would be glad to help you out.

This WAS a good time!!!

Basically a five stage match: Shotgun, Shotgun-Pistol, Pistol-Rifle, Rifle-Pistol, Pistol-Precision Rifle.

....except that it is shot continuously by one competitor until completion; 8 minute time limit, this year good match times were in the low to mid 200 second range. The Precision portion was timed and round limited, making it very much an action-type stage.

...OF PRACTICAL NOTE: About 30 competitors, from beginners to Grand Master James Casanova safely RE-HOLSTERED their loaded pistols 3 times each during their run without incident.

.....ON A MORE IMPORTANT NOTE: I personally consumed 4 giant cheeseburgers to "replenish" my "energy stocks" after an "arduous expenditure".
