Reverendpdp
I have a brand new Hunter that I just put about 150 rounds through... all without a hitch However, when the slide is locked back and a feed it a fresh mag, it returns to battery. If I feed that mag softly it will not happen. It only occurs when I firmly seat the mag. I do not think I'm hitting it too hard. At least no more than my other pistols (CZ, 1911, Sig, Ruger). I'm thinking that first round is hitting the slide stop somewhere, and causing this, but being a newbie, have no idea what to do next. Also, not being familiar with Witness pistols, I don't know if this is by design, or a common issue. Any help?
Hi-Power Jack
I don't know about Hunters, but I've heard of people getting into trouble feeding a fresh mag into the gun when the slide is locked back a little too hard. If my slide is back, I push the mag in gently ... I get more aggressive if the slide is in battery.
Intercooler2
I see you found the other area for good Tanfoglio info
DedOn
My Stock II does the same thing. I actually like it when shooting competition and you go to slide lock. It's a little faster than having to push the slide lock lever or racking the slide again. If the slide is locked back and you are inserting a full mag why would you not want the slide to go forward and chamber another round?
Intercooler2
My Grand Power will do that too if I'm agressive with it. Maybe my Tanfoglios would too, never tried though.
johnbu
That is pretty normal and "a good thing" in competition should you ever run to slide lock.
Intercooler2
Your only option might be to just go easy on it. That's kind of what I learned on the GP.
ATLDave
I have a S&W M&P that does this. Ben Stoeger calls it "auto-forwarding" in his book. It's not a bad thing. Edited February 19, 2016 by ATLDave
Reverendpdp
Ok so that settles it. Be gentle and leave it alone. Thanks!
