echotango
I am currently using an m&p15-22 for local steel matches. I wanted to use my SBR with a conversion but not sure how fast the gas tube gets clogged using 22lr. Anyone know how many rounds of 22lr to start clogging the gas tube? OPENB
Depends how cruddy the ammo is. I finish up with 6-10 rds. of 223 to clear the gas tube.
Eric1231
My 16" version has ran several 1000 rounds without cleaning the gas tube
dauntedfuture
dont worry about the gas tube. Make sure the more is not cloged with lead before you shoot .223. My experience with a 14.5 1/7 and a .22 conversion with the ammo i used did not work well. i suspect it was the ammo but the bore was so clogged with lead that bullets were squeezing down the bore and tumbeling. It took a while to clear the bore. I suspect some more sedate .22 would have worked better bud i abandoned the project.
