bmiller
I bought a gen3 23 police trade in. I am tearing it apart and cleaning it. I have the striker and extractor spring out of the slide. I am pushing down on the striker block plunger and the extractor will not come out. I bought a 22 and pulled it no problems. What do I do? Thanks! 9x45
The safety plunger? Get a pic
bmiller
Yes the safety plunger. I push it down into the slide, and the extractor won't come out. With my other Glocks, when I press in the plunger the extractor falls right out.

atbarr
Spray it with carburator cleaner.
bmiller
Did that. The pistol is functioning fine. I would just like to clean everywhere. It had quite a bit of crap in the striker channel.
9x45
When it's really dirty, you have to get the safety plunger out. Tap the slide on a block of wood and the plunger should fall out then you can get the extractor out. Yes, the claw does gunk up.
splashdown
Probably some brass shavings in there preventing it from coming out. I've had that happen. Just keep working at it.
chs3131
Push the plunger down and the extractor will come out. Prob just realy dirty ( POLICE TRADE-IN) Only about 2% of cops know how to clean guns. lol
bmiller
Well I got it out. Sprayed it several times with carb cleaner and kept working it in and out. There was quite a bit of baked carbon inside. That thing was crusty! Shined a light down the striker tunnel, there almost enough brass down there to make a case. Amazing it still ran fine. 9x45
yup, carbon crud in the extractor and plunger, brass slivers on the firing pin bore spot face. Normal for Glocks. And all cops have to clean their weapons after qualifications. The department armorer won't let his kids back out on the street with a dirty gun. I only clean my upper once a year, as long as Glocks have the right amount of lube in the right locations, they pretty much run forever. Almost ready to clean...... 9x45
chs unfortunate for your guys, once year, that's awful. Take it up with the brass to go at least 3 times a year,
