jtaylor996
I use an LnL AP press, and I want to add a second powder measure for rifle, rather than switching all of the parts back and forth all the time. So what parts do I need? Is it just these two: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/591344/hornady-case-activated-powder-drop http://www.midwayusa.com/product/290524/hornady-lock-n-load-powder-measure Or are there even more parts I'm going to need? Thanks in advance!
Religious Shooter
Other than maybe another die bushing... that's all you need. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1165277407/hornady-lock-n-load-die-bushings?cm_vc=ProductFinding

BeerBaron
The hornady measure is nice but you could use a dillon if you want or even the new lee auto drum. For the dillon you'd just need: Lnl bushing Dillon powder die and expander funnel $15 http://m.dillonprecision.com/mcontent/p/9/pid/25279/catid/48/Powder_Funnelsand $11 http://m.dillonprecision.com/mcontent/p/9/pid/23603/catid/4/Dillon_Powder_Die Dillon powder measure $75 http://m.dillonprecision.com/mcontent/p/9/pid/23599/catid/3/Dillon_Powder_Measure The two springs for the positive auto return $3 Cost = $100 + the lnl bushing for a complete dillon case activated powder drop ready to slap on your lnl. The dillon comes with 2 powder bars too. The lee auto drum would be even cheaper. So far it's new on the market but Ive tried it on my 650 and so far so good. For that you'd need: Lnl bush Lee powder die with expander $15 Lee auto drum $40 Lee powder rider $7 That's it. It has a positive spring return built in. No need for complex linkages etc. Anyway it's worth considering.
BeerBaron
??? He won't need a powder funnel. I think he means the expander/drop tube that sits inside the die to both expand the case mouth and deliver the powder.
jtaylor996
??? He won't need a powder funnel. I already use one for pistol stuff. powderfunnels.com, I think it was. Makes sense I would want another one. Edited November 2, 2015 by jtaylor996

He won't need a powder funnel.I think he means the expander/drop tube that sits inside the die to both expand the case mouth and deliver the powder. Rifle rounds have the expander button on the sizing die - the rifle drop tubes just sit on the case mouth and would have been included with the press - same design as the non-expanding pistol tubes. jtaylor996
Ok. I guess I don't need the powder funnel, then. I've never loaded any rifle loads before... this is my first attempt at it. I'm loading 300BLK. I've got a sheridan case gauge to test my sizing (to make sure I'm not moving the neck around). The dies are forster, and a lee factory crimp. If the sizer does the expansion, then will I have to load full rounds before I can't test them in the sheridan gauge?
