lrdchaos
How many use a tactical rail? I had originally considered it, but I feel it will severely limit my holster options. Who has them, Likes\dislikes?
RangerTrace
It does make it harder to find holsters, but in the event it ever becomes your bedside pistol, it's always nice to be able to add a tactical light....So, I have them on all of my double stacks.... DWNZRO
All my 1911 / 2011's have them because I love the way they look. It has been tough finding a 5197/5198/5199 Safariland holster that fits though. I've already sent 2 back, 1 for a SDC 2011 and one for a LDC 2011. Hopefully this one will work, it's for a WC Tactical (light rail) 5" 1911. I should find out in a couple weeks, they take a while to do exchanges. ltdmstr
One thing to keep in mind is that they do add weight. That's definitely a factor if it's going to be a carry gun. Also, if you're shooting single stack, the extra weight can put you over the limit unless you remove it from somewhere else. In terms of practical application, some prefer a hand held light to a gun-mounted light. If you're not clearly in the latter camp, you may want to try both methods before you go with the rail. steviesterno
Yes. All my new competition or range guns have a rail. True carry only? Don't need it. But like RangerTrace said you can't go wrong with a light on a bedside pistol
