rustybayonet
I'm old enough to know all about the A1 version. Original ar15/m16 had the 3 prong flash hider. The A1 had the addition of the forward assist and the bird cage flash hider. Now I see people calling, what looks like an A1 bird cage, an A2 flash hider. What is the differance? Sarge
I see no difference. Maybe just another word for what us army guys would call a standard flash hider.
wbear
I'm old enough to know all about the A1 version. Original ar15/m16 had the 3 prong flash hider. A1 bird cage has the openings all the way around and does not have to be timed to the barrel. A2 bird cage has a solid bottom to prevent dust cloud when shooting prone and has to be timed. Personally I prefer the original 3 prong flash hider for looks and performance although I run brakes or comps for real life benefits since I'm not in combat and could care less about the amount of muzzle flash at night.
