ad5md
I just acquired a Kimber and would like to replace the trigger pad. This one has the solid face and thinking of getting a skeleton type. Is it something that can be easily replaced by the user or need a gunsmith to do it? What is a good brand and do all replacement pads drop-in or does it needs any modification/fitting? Thank you
zzt
It has been my experience that some fitting is required to the shoe itself.
tcazes
All depends on the model you get. If you are comfortable doing a detail strip of the gun you will be fine
TennJeep1618
1911 Triggers are pretty inexpensive. Like tcazes said, if you can detail strip the gun, you can install a new trigger. Depending on the specs of your frame, a drop-in unit may require fitting on the top and bottom of the trigger shoe.
tcazes
And to the extent of fitting. We are talking just lightly I mean ever so slightly, like fingernail file grit used, sand top and bottom till it will actuate smoothly. We are talking easy as pie process bud. Have no fear!
