tha1000
I've never been an airsoft guy, and never bought an airsoft product before recently. However, I do have an infant son and that has really limited my ability to get to the range and practice or compete over the last... well year or so, really. So I read an article in the Dec/Jan 2015 3 Gun Nation magazine about using airsoft for training and figured I'd give it a shot. I figure my garage is sufficient enough to buy some mini plate racks and set up some targets if for nothing else than to try and scratch my shooting itch on a more frequent basis. The author of the article is apparently sponsored by Evike, so I figured they would be a good place to start. I watched a ton of videos, read reviews, and tried to figure out what would give me the most bang for the buck in a training gun, so I picked a full metal GBB 1911 pistol, bought a propane adapter, and a bag of bb's. Yesterday, I receive the package... it included a propane adapter, a bag of bb's, and a $16 HOLSTER. No pistol to be found, and I'm reasonably sure the pistol package that I ordered wouldn't have fit in the box they shipped it in in the first place. I immediately notified evike of the error via phone, emailed pics to the CS representative, and was told that I would hear back before the end of the day. I heard nothing back, so close to the close of business on the west coast, I sent a follow up email asking for an update. The response was essentially that there was no update to be given. So, I kind of feel like I'm getting the run around. Perhaps I am spoiled after all these years of dealing with great CS at brownells, amazon, and the like... Anybody else have any issues with Evike.com? If so, how long did it take to get them resolved?
10mmauto
I've dealt with Evike three times so far. Never had an issue. I think you'll like training with the airsoft (if you ever get a gun!)
tha1000
It took two days of back and forth, but allegedly the gun I paid for is finally in the mail. Better late than never, I guess. Was rather disappointing to spend my lunch break Tuesday setting up my mini range only to have a holster show up instead of a gun. Gonna lose it if the package arriving next Tuesday isn't right! shakman
A couple years back when I was heavy into MilSim airsoft (yeah, go ahead and laugh....it's ok) Evike was the #1 place to go IF you wanted a serious run-around. They were slow to ship, and their customer service was the pits. It was actually easier to order parts/guns/whatever from Hong Kong, pay the shipping rates, and be done than having to deal with Evike. I'm hoping they have gotten their act together in recent years, but until that's proven to me, Evike is off the list. If it helps, I used to get stuff from http://www.wgcshop.comand http://www.redwolfairsoft.com all the time. A stateside dealer of good repute is http://www.airsoftgi.com. tha1000
Thanks for the links, I'll certainly try them if anything else goes wrong on this order or when the gun wears out. From the sounds of the article and the sponsorship, evike views the competition shooter market as their growth avenue. They will need to tighten up their CS if they want to succeed. So many good companies dealing with actual guns, I doubt many serious shooters are going to deal with their CS shenanigans.
tha1000
Gun finally arrived today. It's pretty cool. Need to remove the tip so it fits in my holster.
librarian45
did it arrive and was it good to go? All my dealings w/ evike have been good, and the one time i had to ca CS they were REALLY helpful, but it soulds like they have some jerks working there. tha1000
It arrived and was good to go... until the air nozzle cracked about 1000 rounds into it. Now waiting on replacement parts to see if I can get it back up and running or if I'm going to have to replace the whole unit. I've enjoyed shooting it and was planning on getting some airsoft style poppers and a texas star... but now am second guessing getting to heavy into it if I am going to have to replace a bunch of parts once a month. What brand GBB did you get? I've got Tokyo Marui 1911 and 2011 replicas and the TM's are considered the most reliable of the GBB's. I've broken a couple of gas nozzles over tens of thousands of shots. My customized TM Hi-Capa is more relaible than my Tac Sol .22LR conversion kit for my STI. An accurate and reliable GBB is not cheap.
tha1000
I went with an SRC mainly because it was one of the few non railed, non a1, style gun that would work with my existing single stack rig. After disassembling it fully, I'd wager that it is made by WE tech. KWA or TM will probably be my next one should I not be able to get this one working right. I'll definitely get something of higher quality next go round.
tha1000
I'm operational again with an upgraded polycarbonate nozzle and guts and an extra power spring. Will put it through the paces in the morning.
