NorCal707
Am picking up a JM Pro 24" and was wondering what others that use sights were running. I don't I'll be getting into competition, gun will just be a recreational shooter for busting clays, ringing AR500 gongs out to 100 yards, etc. Would like whatever I buy to mount as secure as possible and not be prone to getting knocked loose/off. From what I can see, there's options from HiViz, TruGlo, and Williams. Am I missing any other manufacturers? Intend to pick up a 28" 930 barrel too - if you know anyone who might want to sell one, let me know. Edited December 6, 2014 by NorCal707
hondakilla98
I'm guessing you are looking for front and rear? Since the JM already has a fiber front.
NorCal707
Yes, the stock front sight is pretty worthless, IMO.
Boxerglocker
I originally went this route http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=161161 However never could get enough adjustment for elevation. I then move to the pro gobbles and have been happy every since... http://www.truglo.com/firearms-turkey/pro-series-magnum-gobble-dot.asp?catid=F41C40D155E44609874F4225CB2A7EC2 My JM will do 3 slugs touching at 50 yards off a bench and no problems shooting 12 inch steel at 100 yards. How do the TruGlo Pro Gobbles mount and is it a good & secure? Which size did you go with? Edited December 6, 2014 by NorCal707
NorCal707
I see that TruGlo offer front sights in tall and low profile heights. Which would be better, sight-picture wise for shooting both clays and slugs?
buckonz
* Following *Seems that the HiViz 4-in-1 or the TruGlo Gobble Dot could be the way to go?
Boxerglocker
They mount with the tension screws and have been very secure. I have the 1/4 inch ones on my JM.
NorCal707
A couple more questions... Is the thread pitch of the stock fiber optic front sight 5-40? For shooting clays, would picking up a 28" 930 barrel allow me to hit clays more at longer distances vs the 24" barrel or would I be wasting $200? buckonz
I've just ordered the TruGlo Gobble Dots (1/4").

Barrel length past 20" or so has very little effect on ballistics in shotgun's. Lots of clay shooters prefer the length for particular "swing" qualities but from a mechanical standpoint a longer barrel gives you no advantage. hondakilla98
Do the sizes for the pro Magnum gobble dots have to do with the rib on the shotgun? Is the 1/4" the way to go? How much taller are they than the factory bead?
buckonz
When they arrive, I'll let you know.
buckonz
Although I said I ordered the 1/4" set in an earlier post, what I actually ordered was the 3/8" [TG944B] set, which as it turns out is the correct set for the rib on Mossberg barrels. Fits like a glove. It will be interesting to see how they "stay in position" overtime, however they are a nice looking sight.
