We are extremely excited that we will once again be hosting Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA) affiliated matches in the Eastern Region of Pennsylvania. In 2015 Guthsville Rod & Gun Club will be hosting three SCSA affiliated matches, including the 2015 Tom Benjamin Memorial PA State Steel Challenge Championship. Our 2014 match series had over $12,500 in cash payouts across all three matches and well over $25,000 worth of prizes for the Random Drawing Prize table for our State Championship Match. We sold out all three matches in the series, with over 120 registrations for each of the Spring and Summer matches and over 288 registrations for the State Championship Match this past October, with shooters registered from 14 different states.

2015 Match dates are....

Spring Match - May 30th, 2015

Summer Match - July 25th, 2015

Tom Benjamin Memorial PA State Steel Challenge Championship – September 25th, 26th, 27th, 2015

A really good match last year even with the cooler weather. Mike and I shot the NJ NSSF Regional match on Saturday (finishing 1st and 2nd overall) then hustled up to Guthville for the Sunday SC squad.

More steel challenge matches I hope. Since the Guthsville matches are the only one around that runs a sanctioned match with 6 - 8 stages. that match would be full every month

I need at least basic rules for the side matches before we get there so I know what to bring. I mean I don't use the same rimfire rifle and pistol for the PSA Rimfire Challenge as I do for SC or NSSF because the others I have I can make much faster mag changes with.

We don't have all the details about the side matches yet. The side matches are being run by two of the sponsors. Hopefully we will have more details early next week on the match Facebook page. I doubt the side matches will involve mag changes on the clock.

Peacemaker in WV has a 5 stage SC match most months from March to November except when major events are at the range.

I have wanted to get down to their matches. Don't they only run 2 official SC stages per month and the rest are outlaw?

Peacemaker runs 5 regular stages, Five To go, Accelerator, Speed Option, Pendulum, and Smoke and Hope. I have been trying to get them to run all 6 classifier stages. They can't use another bay because the USPSA match uses the other ones at the same time. They run Pendulum and Smoke & Hope in the same bay so I have been trying to get them to run Showdown and Roundabout in one bay instead of Speed Option which takes up a lot of space.

They have been trying to talk me into doing an NSSF Rimfire Challenge monthly match for next year.

Good to know. It's about a 3 hour drive from my area, but might might the trek down next season.

I think another rule I saw, which I wasn't happy about, was that they won't allow showers under 10 years old. My 8 year old (soon to be 9) shoots SC with me using a 22 rifle. He is actually much safer then many adults I have run through matches over the years. I have RO'd adults that have such poor gun handling skills that they have no business drawing from a holster, nor handling a gun ;) Not sure if the age restriction is a club rule at PNTC or a rule the MD has introduced.

Thanks to everyone that came out to shoot the match. 212 shooters from 14 states, 320+ guns shot the match. Close to $40,000 on our random drawing prize table. On Friday Area 8 Director Steve Thomas and his wife Cindi shot the match and gave it a glowing review on the Area 8 Facebook page. Saturday we are honored to have Max Michel and his son Peyton, and Doug Koenig and his sons Bradley and Trevor out to shoot the match. We also had the West Point Cadets Shooting Team down to shoot the match again this year. We had amazing weather. We also made the announcement that we are changing the match format for 2016 to include the Tier 3 East Coast Steel Challenge Championship. Check for updates here on BE, on our Facebook Page and our our website for more info about the 2016 match series. Also jump over to our FB page to check out all the great feedback, pictures, videos, etc from this year's match.
