Tampa-XD45
I've seen a few posts recently re: 9mm conversions so I thought I would share the costs. New cylinder from S&W $103 and took a week to receive. Cylinder comes with the extractor rod, but you'll also need the small parts listed in the jpg below. I initially ordered them from S&W, but after a 6 week wait I just purchased them from various sellers on Ebay for a total of about $25. Send the new cylinder to TK Custom for rechamber - $275. Pinnacle was $20 cheaper but offered a 6 week turnaround vs TK which had it back to me in 4 days. Also had TK supply the 9mm .035 thickness moonclips. Some of the project costs will be offset by the sale of 2,000 pieces of Starline 38 SC brass and TK's .025 moonclips. See the attached target jpg for results with the epoxy coated, plated, and FMJ rounds. Interesting how the Bayou bullets didn't stabilize. This 8 shot is used for USPSA, ICORE, and steel matches. revoman
What distance to target and why not shoot .357 or .358 bullets. The barrel is still .357 isn't it?
Tampa-XD45
Yes the barrel is still .357 I tried .357 bullets in 9mm brass and found no improvement in accuracy over plated or FMJ .356 out of my 327 barrel. YMMV. The idea was to consolidate bullets & brass across divisions. I can now shoot the same 9mm ammo in production, limited, and revo. Target was at 17 yards. practical_man
Would you post the part number for the cylinder you ordered? Is it Ti or steel? Thanks
Tampa-XD45
Stainless steel cylinder. Ti was not available when I called. Part # is 382110000 on the packing list.
