ErikW
This is a direct-to-video David Mamet (writer/director) movie starring Val Kilmer. It's not that great, but it's not too bad. Some un-Hollywood gunfighting and, get this, realistic through-the-scope views with realistic reticles. (Let's play identify the scope!) Being a David Mamet flick, it's got his weird, stilted dialog, plot twists, and it generally leaves you in the dark about what's going on. It doesn't leave you with the warm fuzzies. rhino
I liked it. I usually enjoy Val Kilmer's performances, so that's why I rented it. It was confusing in parts, though, as you mentioned.
Vlad
That movie was a pleasent suprise. I added to my blockbuster movie queue based on this thread, and I actually caught it on some premium cable channel last night. I wouldn't call it earthshattering cinema but I enjoyed it. Catch it if you havent already and thanx Erik for pointing it out. Vlad
davidwiz
Is it me, or has David Mamet's dialogue lately gone the way of the William Shatner school of acting: Why...yes....my name....is....Jim. I...don't know....what....you are....talking about.
ErikW
His dialogue has always been weird. House of Games, Oleanna... he does it on purpose I'm sure. Like he's trying to remind you it's not real.
