csailer
Hi, I am a junior shooter that has some questions about 3 gun divisions. Are 3-gun and multi-gun the same? Do they have different rules? I have a 5.56 Ar-15, a stock 9mm handgun, a Cordoba that holds 2, and a 870 pump 12 gauge. What devision would I shoot in if I use the pump, handgun, and ar? LoganbillJ
3-gun and multigun are the same sport. Difference being whose ruleset they are run under. Multigun is most generally USPSA. 3 gun can be 3 Gun Nation rules or Outlaw rules. If you are running optics on the AR15 you will be in Tac Ops. Iron sights will put you in Tac Irons. Thanks, in Tac Ops and Tac Irons, how many shells is your shotgun allowed to hold?
MarkCO
Close, but not exactly. For the rifle, if you are running a 1X optic or irons, you can be in Limited or Tac-Irons. If you have magnification on the rifle, you can be in Tactical or Tac-Optics. Both of those divisions have a iron sighted pistol with 140mm mag max length and allow an auto shotgun with no more than 9 rounds in the gun at the start (majority of matches). Iron sights on shotgun and no porting of chokes or barrel. You can still run a pump with the same capacity restriction at the start in either Division. KelsonAK
and for clarification - the 9 rounds (usually) is only for the START for most rule sets not always a hard limit on the capacity of the shotgun. In other words - 9 to start and then jam a few more in after the beeeeeeeeep is usually ok. Not always - read the rules for the match and class you will be participating in. On an empty chamber start, some will let you put 8 in the tube, some 9. Other than those 2 matches, after the start signal, you can load as many as you want, but yes do check the rules for each match.
