jimbullet
I was thinking of reducing main spring weight from my current set up of 17 lb to 15 lb. I understand that this could cause light strikes and so I was wondering if that is resolved by simply adding an extended firing pin. Has anyone tried this yet? hotrodder
I have been running 2 guns with that setup for a couple years now. Both have lightened slides and work well.
jimbullet
How's the trigger pull? Does it loose its crisp break? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
hotrodder
The only thing I noticed on the trigger was it was slightly lighter feeling. The big difference was the felt recoil and slide speed, which I liked better.
Postal Bob
For what purpose do you want to reduce the mainspring weight? Usually it's to reduce trigger pull weight. But if you just want a faster slide, then go with a lighter recoil spring.
Quack
Shouldn't be an issue. IIRC, STI uses a 15# mainspring. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

xrayfk05
How can you say if it will not be an issue if you don't know what primers TS uses? Even with a #17 you will have light strikes if you use hard primers. (Murom, Ginex, S&B and such) Only way to know for sure is to try it out. That said, I for sure would not go that low. I replaced my stock #17 with a #19 to avoid light strikes because I do use hard primers since they are cheap. (This is on and SVI btw)
rishii
Use colt firing pin springs with a15lbs spring I used that setup with a Ti firing pin and never had a problem
jimbullet
Using Winchester magnum small pistol primers, Fiocchi primers and CCI's here. I have the intention of reducing the trigger pull weight by doing this. Glad to know that it is possible. Off to buy the parts.
