D.Hayden
Hopefully these links will work correctly. I had a chance to go to on a tour of the North tower of the Golden Gate bridge. And, in a city known for fog, could not have gotten a better day. The best visibilty I could have asked for. Went a little nuts, taking over 100 pictures.. here's a few.. Also, sorry for the size, I realised after it posted it was too large. D.Hayden
I have pictures without the shoes.. but I had to show how close you are on that dinky railing. It's probably like those corny picture showing poeople holding up the Tower in Pisa.
Patrick Sweeney
OK, so hundreds of professional photographers request to get on the towers, year after year, and get turned down. I've got to ask: how'd you swing it?
TMC
Dave, that photo makes my legs ache just by looking at it. I'm not fond of heights. Awesome oppertunity, your a lucky guy!
Rob Boudrie
Just wondering - how did you get to the top? Elevator, ladder or stairs (internal or external?), and what kind of pull did it take to get this access?
D.Hayden
I'll just say, I got very lucky in getting the invite to go up. I have about as much pull as the lowlyest person working in a 200K person company can have.. There's an internal elevator, about the size of a phone booth, that goes up both towers for the maintenance crews (I guess), although there's other accesses too that you could see going up. They have to work on those lights somehow. There's a picture of the inside here: http://www.shelterpub.com/_lloyd/bridge_top.html

mdatlanta
Great photos! I lived in the Bay Area for years and always wanted to get on top of the bridge like that. What a perfect day you had, too.
