Krag
I'm going to start shooting USPSA Production with a .40 caliber G35 and wanted to ask if anyone could suggest some super light loads with 180 gr. lead or jacketed bullets with the following powders: Bullseye, Unique, TiteGroup. Many thanks.
ANeat
Try the search feature; Im in the same position as you. Working up a production load for 40. There are pages and pages of info from some well respected shooters here. Search for "40 Minor" or "40 production" Adam
brass-hog
3.5 Grains of Titegroup with a 180 grain bullet. OAL 1.135 = soft recoil production load. I have had very good luck with this.
Carlos
Good load; I believe that Turtle (Todd Sindelar - a GM who made it to GM w/ a Glock .40) used just such a load in his Glock .40, though a search of Turtle's posts should confirm. Julien Boit
I often heard using lead bullets in a glock barrel is not recommended. The Tenifer finish is supposed to be too tough on the lead and causing excessive fouling and loss of accuracy.
Joe D
Here's some recent chrono results, yesterday, using TG. These were shot from one of my G35s. OAL was 1.125-1.130" Bullet was a 180 gr Rainier HP. Mixed brass. 3.0 718 fps 129 pf 3.2 752 fps 135 pf 3.4 798 fps 144 pf 4.3 952 fps 171 pf I averaged a 10 string for each. The 3.2, 3.4 and 4.3 loads will all group under 1 1/2" at 25 yds. My wife's G34 with a 147 Rainier bullet and 3.0 gr of TG will group even better. FYI the 3.2 and 3.0 .40 loads shoot softer than the 9mm load. The 9mm load averages 872 fps 128 pf. The 3.4 load feels about the same. I use the 3.4 as I like the way the front sight tracks.
