.40AET Posted October 17, 2004 Share Posted October 17, 2004 Or, are there really any differences? Yes, in terms of the cup hardness, the Federals are the softest. Winchester is in the middle. And CCI are the hardest. This can be seen when you discuss ease of ignition during firing. The federals ignite the easiest, while the CCI are the hardest to ignite. My Limited guns never had any problems with CCI's and I used them for years. I just switched to Winchesters only because they are stocked at my local range. This winter I am going to try a lighter mainspring and see if I get any failures to ignite. A 15 lb mainspring will NOT ignite CCI's consistantly.
