Mark K
Just finished building an AR pistol in .223 (also have a 300BLK upper 1/2 way done). The .223 upper is a 10.5" barrel. Carbine length gas tube (low profile gas block). Pistol buffer tube basically has a carbine buffer in it that weighs 82gm. Test fired it today, and it would shoot 2-4 shoots fine, and then either jam with an empty 1/2 way out, or have a double feed. I feel like the BCG is cycling too fast. Should I make the buffer heavier (can only make it a little heavier by filling with melted lead), or try and find an adjustable gas block? Thoughts? Experiences? RWF
the flaming pig is made just for short barreled ARs but they increase pressure for relieabliy. Noveske=flaming pig
Brine0
Not enough gas Edited August 8, 2013 by Brine0
ThomasM
Not enough gas THIS ^^^^^ If your bolt isn't coming back far enough to throw the empty out you don't want a heavier buffer. You need more gas to push that bolt back and cycle the empty out.
Brine0
Exactly Try a adjustable gas block after opening up the gas port in the barrel. Edited August 8, 2013 by Brine0
