GeorgeD
I have a old Knights 308 match sr25 with a 24" barrel. I am going to chop the barrel between 16" and 17". I measure the gas port at .090", it is rifle length. My question is what size gas port is going to give me the best results? Should I open it up or keep it the same? At this point I have a Surefire break I plan on using. Thanks, George
Dan Sierpina
Don't open it up, unless you need it. I'd cut the barrel to 18 to 20 inches.
P.E. Kelley
Easy to cut....hard to lengthen. As my Pal Dan recommends 18-20 and see how feels.
Dan Sierpina
Personally, I'd start at 20 inches and see how the balance is. Lightweight, but not balanced is not condusive to good accuracy, particularly offhand.
