kcobean
My son's XDm9 5.25 has run flawlessly since we got it last Christmas. At a 3 gun match last weekend, the fiber-optic on the front sight fell off into his hand while it was in his holster. What's the best way to reinstall it? One of the guys I shoot with (Thanks Bill!) heated the end of the fiber up with a lighter and flattened it and it stayed in place for the remainder of the match. Is that the preferred method of installation of these little fiber optic posts?
cyberiad
Essentially yes. Try "installing fiber optic front sight" in google and you'll get more pages than you want to read.
ummm
Yup, IIRC there's are youtube vids demonstrating this exact thing
szhttm
The instructions are in the manual but this video should also help. Cutting the existing fiber optic installed on the front site of the XDm 5.25 is a little more difficult that what is shown in the video because it sits in deeper into the site. But a sharp cutting edge like a box cutter blade will work. Good Luck And Be Safe!!!
