doubleaay78
Palmetto State Armory has stripped uppers for $70, they were in stock as of yesterday. They are as good as any other.
EkuJustice
Use the Anderson ones here S they are local. Basically an upper is an upper. The big thing is barrel and bolt

DaveTimm
Most uppers come from only a few forgings, that is sticking with forged uppers of course. Then the forgings are machined and finished to what you see for sale. Sometimes short cuts are made in both machining and finishing and that can be a difference in an upper versus a good upper. Then you get into billet uppers which are machined from block rather then a forging. If an upper isn't machined properly, or the shop uses tool bits to long, things can be off, tight or loose depending. Stick with a good store that has good service that will stand behind your purchase. Also known quality brands can help as with this known brands quality control is usually good. Be cautious of the $50 uppers that float around. It depends on your build. I have a Laure billet stealth upper, a VLTOR as well as a lot of standard forged uppers. Are the nice ones more accurate then the others, debatable. But they are more consistent for the built, and fit and finish are usually nicer as well. When you choose a nicer upper, generally its a variable that you don't have to worry about. Edited December 1, 2012 by bluepythons
Vipers
Brownell's sent me a link yesterday to one of their uppers. Not a bad price either.
GeorgeD
I have been really impressed with Mega products. The anodizing is some of the best I have seen, great quality product. Come in billit and forged. You get what you pay for. George
