STI 1 frame many uppers

Is the STI frames able to allow the use of more than 1 upper with different cailbers? Like say you got one in 40 cal and had an upper made up in 45 ACP could you just switch upper and mags and have a STI in 45?

You would need to change the ejector in the 40 to 45 change, but if you were going 9 to 40 it would not be an issue to do what you descibed above.

I had a chance to buy a STI 2011 frame that had two complete upper assemblies (40S&W and 9MM) fitted for it. I waited too long and someone else bought it. But to answer your question yes it can be done.

It is an interesting theory but Murphy's Law dictates that at any given time, the gun will be set up for the caliber you did NOT want to shoot today.

I have a Dan Wesson Pointman which is fitted with both 9mm and 40 S&W uppers. I had one upper made in stainless and the other in blue so I could readilly distinguish between them.

Probably right but if I get around to setting it up for 45 it would say 45 for a year or more.
