Sm Pistol vs Sm Rifle Primers

Hi all, Just curious about the difference in my loadings-I am new to 9mmMajor & loaded some test rounds with HS6 & Small Pist Primers & again with Small Rifle primers(same powder weight 7.5)I had some non ignition strikes with some of my SRP's but none with the SmPistPrimers. Are Sm Rifle Primers any harder than SmPist ? I used Winchester for both.G17 with KKM Barrel & SJC 5 Port Comp & 15 lb Spring..

There is no need to run SRP. I've been using SPP in my 9 major for 3 years or 60K rounds. Most of the time I use SPM Small Pistol Magnum primers, this gets me about 20fps and burns the powder better than the plain SPP. I use WIN, the CCI is a bit harder. In the SRP the hardest ones are the MagTech, they have a D on them. My STI's set them off but its hard to find the dent in the primer.

Thanks everyone,CocoBolo I don't know what Striker (stock or Modified) Bobby Carver uses in his Glock Builds. The Jaeger Striker is supposed to be real good also.I haven't had an ignition problem so far with SPP (win).I think I'll stick with what works for my HS6 Loads so far...

I use the WIN SPP primers with my CZ Shadow with an 8.5# main spring, it is only supposed to shoot Federals but the WINS work great, they are pretty soft. Just keep an eye out for punch thru a primer flow, if you get that then use the CCI SPP they are a bit harder, but not as hard as SRP.

bobby put a very light striker spring spring on the striker to make for a very light trigger pull. you wont be able to use SRP with 100% reliability especially in the winter. When i was running my glock guns I used a jager striket and wold reduced power srping. I never could get anything but federal spp to run 100% 100% of the time. CCI was pretty close.

if you run CCI or federal spp or spm you will never have any issues. wolf spp was 50% on a warm day. I sold all of my glock stuff long time ago and run all 2011 platform hammer fire guns I can almost run wolf SRM in them with a 17lb main spring .

I would not change anything on your gun just use a softer primer. Bobby makes some very nice guns. I used all his parts when i built my open and limted glocks.

Thanks Mat, Yes my trigger is very nice & so far I've not had any issues with Win SmPistPrimers only Win SmRifle Primers.I shoot in Southern Fla so the temp issue for me is a non issue,it's ALWAYS HOT ! Matter of fact sometimes I take a leave of absence during parts of July & August due to the brutal heat & humidity & resume bullet time in the fall(That's what they call it) it's still in the 80's but the humidity drops a little-still like living under someones arm..
