9mm major with hybrid barrel or poppel holes

I tried 8.6gr and 8.9gr of 3N38 in my FGW open gun. It was difficult to seat the MG 124 CMJ down to 1.165, but it is possible. To be honest, I was not impressed with the loads. They made 168 and 171PF respectively, and both the Silhouette and N350 loads shot flatter at similar PF. The gun is a full size, Schuemann barrel, Thundercomp 2, and no popple holes.

Alf, how many lbs recoil spring you are using to make it major with 3n38 at 9gr load

I have tried both 8 and 9 lb and found that 8lb works the best for me.

I have an Infinity IMM in 9 Major. It is a Hybrid with three holes. I have had no problem over the years of making Major with it.

At last years Area 2 was my load 8,6 gn of HS6 with a Montana Gold 121 JHP. It made 168.

The powders that I normally use is 3N38 rougly 9 gn and 3N37 about 7,5 gn.

your tellin me you can make major with 3n38 with 3 port hybrid in 9 major? i check to see what a 9 case can hold of 3n38 and 9.1-9.2 and it was FIlled. to the top. it takes 10.0 to make major in my super comp with a 3 port hybrid. interesting.

9mm shorter case... less case = less powder to push. One of my buds uses 9.? of 3n38 in his 9 major with a 3 hole shueman and makes 169. I just dont understand how people are making 170 + with less than 9 grains of hs6 with a 115. It takes my gun 9mm trubor 9.6 grains before the bbl holes to make 174. @ 1.165 with a 115

the way people say how HS-6 shoots at high PF with 115's, makes me think about switching to 9 major. but i really dont see how anything could shoot much better than my SC load. those holes look good. ill bet it shoots nice.

My super the gun screen right with hybrid barrel. Far exceeds my 9 major gun with the same load. I load 9.9 grains of hs6 with a115 jhp at 1.235 and it is the flattest thing I have ever shot. (175 pf)The 9 major now with the slide cut and 3 holes with 9.6 grains of hs- 6 and a 115 @ 1.165 is very flat but has a lot of pop from the higher pressure. 9 major is not for anyway with even the slightest bit of recoil sensativity. People who argue about it and say it shoots as flat as a tuned super have either a diff preference for gun handling or have never shot a really tuned 38 super before. I can't tell the number of loads I went through to get the 9 even close to my super. And I just got the super

From my load logg.9,2gn of Vith 3N38 with a Magtech 124 gn FMJ GFL cases and FED 100 primers OAL 31,0 mm.Made an average of 1372 FPS for a factor of 170. The gun I use is my IMM with the original barrel/comp.The case is indeed full.
