Chuck D
The very bottom of the cocking serrations on my G17 slide are like razorblades. If I hit these with a polishing wheel or stone just to break the sharp edge, will this violate the "no external modifications" part of the rulebook for SSP ? I'm not talking about removing any substantial material to constitute "slide lightning" just breaking the sharp edges of the cocking serrations. Thank you... Skydiver
What about a hundred practice draws out of the holster? No rule about sandpaper being in the holster when those practice draws happen, right?
johes
Common sense would say no problem because it's not giving you a competitive advantage, only to prevent injury. But by the strictest interpretation of the rules, there are some who would disallow it based on it being an externally visible modification. It's just like if you soften the sharp corners on the extended mag release on a Glock. Nobody's trying to cheat, just trying to avoid bleeding. goodgraf
You can probably soften the edges without any noticable "external" difference. It would only take a couple or three swipes with sandpaper to remove the sharp, potentially dangerous, edge.
Merlin Orr
A sapphire or diamond ladies fingernail board will do this nicely....
sierra77mk
Don't do it. Just suck it up and buy some bandages. You may be DQ'd if your thumb is not bleeding.
