Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The divisions (ESP & SSP and others) are primarily setup to separate the different firing/safety mechanisms. However, SSP also adds no external modifications to keep things as stock as possible. If you are using a different firing pin, it does not change the firing/safety functions and is not externally visible so is legal according to rulebook. I know your post was more around externally visible mods...but the following trigger upgrade examples may help you in future. Here is are two examples to clarify how trigger mods impact division. 1. I recently purchased a G35 and installed a glocktriggers.com "Edge" kit. This kit is specifically approved by IDPA in the ESP division so I can not shoot this gun in SSP. Overtravel, pre-travel and reset are all reduced and overtravel is screw adjustable so is not approved for SSP. 2. I installed a Rocket 3.5 connector in my G23. Since I did not change anything related to the firing/safety function (e.g. pre-travel), nor is it immediately adjustable on the fly, it still falls into the SSP class. Hope this helps! Michael
  2. You can probably soften the edges without any noticable "external" difference. It would only take a couple or three swipes with sandpaper to remove the sharp, potentially dangerous, edge.
  3. One very important point I did not see above but may have missed it. You cannot participate in sanctioned IDPA matches without a classification, typically MM and above. This was the primary reason I wanted to get classified as soon as possible as the sanctioned matches are such a great time. Even went to Nationals in Tulsa. You have to shoot at least two sanctioned matches during the year to go to Nationals.
  4. Big Rock Gun Club - New IDPA club!! Match and swap meet this Saturday, April 14. No match fee this time!! See directions link below. This a club near Palestine, Tx. They are starting IDPA matches. If your available this Saturday, come on out for the match and swap meet. Stay safe. Club Announcement: BRGC Members, This Saturday is the meeting for the IDPA range and shoot. The Swap Meet will follow at 2:00. The weather is calling for partly cloudy, but in case of heavy rain, we will postpone it one week. Bring about 150 rounds of 38 special, 9mm, .40 cal, or 45 acp, eye protection, holster if you have one, hearing protection and a sack lunch. Tell your friends about it. The meeting will start at 10:00. We expect a large crowd. Everyone is new to this, so don't let that hold you back. We have about a dozen members that have shot IDPA before, but everyone else is new. Come on out and see what is going on and have a lot of fun doing it. Directions: brgc.net/map.htm
  5. Sure hated to miss this one. These guys hold a good match. Well organized and fun...and the Gumbo and Crawfish are awesome! Maybe next year.
  6. NC is a great place to go visit and to shoot. Family up there so will try to make that trip from TX to NC for Nationals. Love it when Nationals is in Tulsa...it's a straight shot North for me (from Dallas).
  7. This should be a great one! First annual Cross Timbers Champ but these guys are pros at running IDPA matches. Cross Timbers membership is growing fast and we have three different locations at which we shoot (two indoor and one outdoor).
  8. Hey All, I've been shooting/hunting my whole life. Began IDPA a couple years back and love it! I don't golf anymore. Looking for general info about new equipment, custom guns, other events outside IDPA(USPSA, etc.). Look forward to chatting with you. Take Care, Michael
