The press coverage will come back to haunt the buyer, as someone will see it and conclude they have ownership that never passed to the renter of the locker and will retain counsel to contest ownership, or know thy have a bogus case but realistically concludes that enough legal filings will get a settlement on the basis of "cheaper to pay than defend".
