Derek45
What do you prefer for 45ACP, 230 gr. or 200 gr.? I used 200SWC for many years, but recently switched to 230.
Sixgun
I'd personally use a 185 gr going around 900 fps. I like the feel of lighter bullets going faster. YMMV Ray
TheOtherErik
I was using 185lswc but went to 200 plated rn. THe sole purpose was for smoother feading which inturn allowed me to lighten up the recoil spring. I dont shoot it too often but the last batch i loaded up was 200g west coast under some clays. Sac Law Man
In order to make 165 power factor, I like the idea of using a heavier bullet, I.E. the 230 grain. The heavier bullet equates to less powder, less recoil, less pressure.
blkbrd
It just depends on what shoots best for you and your gun, the timer tells the tale.
MichiganShootist
Robbie L. covers this pretty well on his www site. He favors a light fast bullet if you are shooting a compensated gun (to get the pressure required to max. out the comps capability). But for pistols without a comp. he suggets the 230 grain bullet at a slower speed. I've converted from 200 to 230s for use in LTD. 10 and believe that lighter charge has helped me. TriggerT
Yeah, what MI Shootist said.. Also, I switched from Montana Gold to West coast for $$ reasons, but noticed that with the softer jacketing, the recoil is less. I shoot too much indoors to go to lead, but this is pretty close. David Benzick
230g lead bullet with a fast powder ( 4.1g Solo 1000). This gives a real soft recoil with a 12 pound spring in a five inch gun. Dave
