Match slide finish

Just wondering if anyone knows what type of finish is on the slide.

Seems it would wear off pretty easy.

Its just bluing. And yes it wears off easily.. :)

If you are worried about it you could have it duracoated, cerracoated, or have some ionbond black put on there.

And look they have a Match in their samples section... ;)

I want to redo my Hunter with ionbond black. It looks bad ass.. ;)

i actually was thinking of having slide just bare steel, like on stock, limited etc.. but maybe im just crazy :)

have any one polished out serrations on the match slide, im thinking it might look good. Too bad there is no "Post your EAA pic" thread pinned on top. Didn't take any pix of mine yet either.

The Limited and Stock have a hard chromed slide. Taking the bluing off and polishing it would look ok until you touched it, then you will probably have rust fingerprints all over it. The bluing is on there to keep it from rusting...

can cold bluing remedys touch up worn off finish?

good point about rust, do you how much hard chroming of the slide might cost me?

Yeah you should be able to touch up the finish with some cold bluing.

Rich at Canyon Creek does hard chroming. Its not cheap.. ;)

  • 1 month later...

Have anyone tried oxpho-blue cream from brownells or any other product to touch up Match slide?

How was the final result, did it hold up better then factory bluing?

I've used oxpho blue on some stuff (maybe even my Hunter frame). Its bluing, so I don't think its going to be much different than what's on the slide now.

If you want something that is going to hold up better, I think you are going to have to get it coated.
