want2race Posted July 27, 2011 Share Posted July 27, 2011 I had searched for 185gr SWC load data with Universal Clays and Clays powder. Not much info so I'll post what I tested yesterday. Tested at 75ish degrees on indoor range. Each powder charge individually weighed during assembly. Missouri 185gr SWC, IDP#3 bullets. 5" Schuemann barrel. 4.7gr Clays powder, OAL 1.25 940 940 961 945 880 AVG: 933fps PF: 172 6.1gr Universal Clays powder, OAL 1.25 917 973 856 899 935 927 AVG: 917fps PF: 169 Also test Atlanta Arms 185gr JHP (Black Box) 824 822 795 793 786 800 770 771 AVG: 795fps PF: 147 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

want2race Posted July 27, 2011 Author Share Posted July 27, 2011 The AAA AMU ammo is accurate. The UC load felt much hotter than the velocity showed. I would have guessed 180 PF. The clays at 4.7 felt just like my 200gr SWC load. The faster bullet hits 2 inches lower which was the goal as my fixed sight gun hits 4 inches high at 25 with the 200gr bullets.
