slippp
So I was just wondering....are custom slide modifications legal in single stack I.e. holes on the tops or sides?
ParaGunner
Not legal,it would be considered slide lightning.
scooterj
You can have some cosmetic changes made. Flat topping and cocking serrations are allowed.
EkuJustice
Tri topping the slide saves weight and is legal. Gills, holes etc are not
BOGA
If you're after lightening the slide, Look at the bottom for an old colt commander slide. It's lightened inside on the rear 1/2.
slippp
Thanks guys! Tri topping the slide saves weight and is legal. Gills, holes etc are not What is tri topping? Any pictures for reference?
pjb45
Go to the SV website and you can see examples of profiles for the top. Comestic cuts are allowed. Look at the Kodiak Precision website. Don has a Single Stack with 'french cuts(?)' cuts on the slide. These are not for lightening the slide. That gun has pass muster at SSN and A2. Putting lightening holes in the slide like TGO has on his limited gun are definitely out.

Is that called tri topping (13/14)? Also, if I already have cocking serrations on my slide, is it too late to get them similar to post #14? Is the cost variable-gun-dependent or is it usually flat rate?
scooterj
The top of the slide is milled flat and a 45 degree cut on either side is called tri-topping. That was a STI Spartan with the standard cocking serrations. Bobby must be a magician Look up the contact info at http://www.freedomgunworks.com/ and give Bobby a call. Bsbllrooster
Quick question. Would it be legal to add cocking serrations down the entire length of the slide? Obviously it would look ridiculous but it would save weight. I'm thinking it's probably not legal though for SS.
EkuJustice
I wouldnt bet on it being legal never seen it done. The tri-top will save quite a bit though
