-JQ-
Just curious if it is worth the trip. Thanks JQ
GrumpyOne
Yes, it is. Fort Jefferson is quite a feat of engineering, 70 miles off the coast. The diving and snorkleing can't be beat.

11.43mm
forget the tanks; you'll see more more often surface diving BEAUTIFUL!!! Bonus when I was last there-"dry foot, wet foot" Cuban refugees allowed to stay. Booties and gloves (yep I'm a pussy) ward off coral cut infections
-JQ-
Thanks! Good to hear. Any advice on securing personal gear while there? any sort of locker rental?
mpeltier
Thanks! Good to hear. Any advice on securing personal gear while there? any sort of locker rental? Backpack works great. Bring everything you will need. There is no concessions of anykind. Pick your weather as well. It takes two hours one way by boat. If NOAA predicts anything bigger than 2-4 ft seas, I would find something else to do, The Hogs breath, Sloppy Joes, Margaritaville, all comes to mind or was it......anyway I love the old Forts of the east coast and this is one of the best. Probably due to the remote location. It is worth the trip. Edited February 6, 2011 by mpeltier
