glknineteen
I'm setting up my 550, and when the handle is on the upstroke, the part with 17838 stamped on the side hangs up on the powder measure. This happens between the tab on 17838, and the block on the powder measure. How do I fix this, or is it supposed to have a stutter in order to clean out any residual powder? CZinSC
It is normal. Not sure why it does this, but mine does same thing.
glknineteen
Played around with it some more, and found a way to make it stop. If you loosen the lock ring that fastens the powder measure to the die, and rotate the powder measure a little bit off center (counterclockwise, if viewed from the top), it seems to cycle smoothly. I think it should still drop powder correctly.
dillon
Be sure the failsafe return rod is vertical. The locking-link is supposed to stop against the powder measure body, then the return rod pulls it down and finishes retracting the powder bar. Be sure to tighten the blue wing nut so that when you push the handle forward to seat a primer, the coil spring above the blue wing nut is partially compressed. Sarge
Yeah, they are pretty clunky when operating normally.
glknineteen
Thanks everyone. I just get a little hesitant when things start clunking and hanging up on each other. If it's normal, I won't stress.
