STIGUY
I was thinking of switching to Open and was wondering if there is anyway to rebarrel my Limited gun to say 38 Super? Can I use my exsting slide and purchase an oversized barrel and have it fitted? I guess I should just contact the guy that everyone mentions in the Houston area to ask? Unless someone knows of a smith in the Dallas area that can do the work?
pvhendrix
If it is currently a .40 the breachface would be to wide for .38.
ParaGunner
You'll need a new slide, barrel and possibly a new ejector.
STIGUY
Any suggestions on these and a comp?
Merlin Orr
Hmmm.. My 38 Super barrel fit into my 5' x .40 STI runs flawlessly...
G-ManBart
To be done properly, you need a new slide, barrel, extractor, ejector and a comp. R,
sfinney
Sell your Limited and buy a used Open. It will be cheaper, and work better. If you insist on working with your existing Edge, you will want to pay someone to : cut the dustcover back to short length mill off a lot of weight on the slide fit the new 38 super barrel and comp fit a scope mount and scope retune the extractor and ejector to work for 38 Super and a scope You CAN make a 38 Super barrel work in a .40 breach face, its not that much difference in breachdace dimension between a .40 and RIMMED 38 Super breachface... but it will take tuning.....and won't be optimal. But it can work. However, I would not go to rimless, or 9mm cases, it may cause more problems. Stick with old fashioned real 38 Super. Or, make your Edge into an Open .40, there are some those running around.
olp73
You could convert it to357 sig and even use your old mags not theanswer you were hoping for maybe?
splashdown
You could shoot it as a 40. Turn the barrel down to classic diameter, thread it for a cone comp and mount a dot.
Tzygä
I you have good limited gun keep it because you might want to shoot it sometime. If your finances permit pay new or used open gun. It was the best solution for me when I got my first open gun to keep my old limited gun.
