Fireant
I've just got my 650 back from Dillon and set everything up. Out of my first 100 rounds 10 would not chamber check. They went in except for the last 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Do I need to lower my sizeing die? I'm using the lee 3 die set without the FCD right now. I also had some bullet shavings on the press afterwards, do I need just a little more bell on the case? Thanks.
schmitz
In reloading on my 650XL I always lower the sizer die onto the shellholder, either reloading .38Super, .40S&W and .30M1 Carbine, so in other words fullsizing! The ram won't hit the dies because a empty cartrigde is always in the sizer die! Belling is very important, but don't bell to much because it reduces cartridge lifespan! On my 650 are: a RCBS sizer die, Dillon bell, powderchecker, Redding Competition Seater Die and a Dillon taper/crimp. Works well for me. DVC, Henny Schmitz, NPSA, The Netherlands (EU) ....no shaving and no chambercheck problems!
benos
Yes, run the ram all the way up until it stops, then screw the sizing die all the way down until it stops because it lightly seats against the shell plate. That's perfect for all straight-wall pistol calibers. be
