Steel Showdown match at BGSL, Wilmore, KY 9.11.10

Recommended Posts

The Blue Grass Sportsman League http://www.bgslinc.com/index.php is having their monthly Steel Showdown match at BGSL, Wilmore, KY this Saturday. This is similar to 'Steel Challenge', but right now our bays are not long enough to be associated with the 'Steel Challenge'. We are working on that.

Steel Showdown is an action pistol match that requires the competitor to hit 5 or less Static steel targets. Most stages specify a specific steel target to be shot last (Stop Plate) This format is friendly to all skill levels and is a great event to introduce new shooters to an action pistol event.

Set up 8:30 , Registration Starts 9:00, New Shooter Check out 9:30, Match starts 10:00.

**** New Shooters - (i.e. Any Shooter who has not had a new shooter check out at a BGSL Pistol Event) must attend a new shooters check out or they will not be able to shoot.

Cost: BGSL member $10, Non- Members $15 – Second Gun $5 (Juniors - $5 with paying parent) **Junior 16 or younger

Equipment: Any safe centerfire pistol / revolver .355 (9mm) or above or Rim-Fire (.22 ) We recommend a minimum of 3 magazines – 5 being better for magazine holding 10 rds. or less. Holsters must be a strong side and cover the trigger when the pistol is holstered **Rim-Fire pistols may start at a low ready but must be bagged at the completion of each stage. Eye and hearing protection is required for shooters and spectators. Ammo – a typical match would require 125 – this is with no misses – BRING EXTRA.

We will offer a second relay if there are enough shooters who want to shoot the match a second time. (Same pistol or different)

If you are a member you will need to use your gate card to open the gate.

If you are not a BGSL member, simply use the key pad at the gate to call the number displayed on the sign for Pistol (006) and whoever has the Pistol phone will use it to remotely open the gate after you state that you are there for the Steel Showdown match.

The Pistol phone will be answered from 8:45 AM until 10:00 AM Saturday.

We welcome new shooters and spectators.

You can always view our complete schedule here http://bgslinc.com/webcalendar/month.php

Don’t forget about the 2010 Regional GSSF match.

For the 13th consecutive year the Bluegrass Sportsmen's League will host the 2010 Regional GSSF match. We are looking forward to another fun match with lots of old and NEW faces. We hope that everyone spreads the word and invites a new shooter out to try our sport, and possibly win a free GLOCK!

The GSSF match will be October 23-24 with set-up on the 22nd.

As always, we need people to run timers, keep score and paste/paint targets. So, workers can have lots of experience or NO experience, we would still love for you to come out and pitch in to help make this another successful year. We will again have a 4 hour set up shift from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday and will need about 10 people for this day. The match itself is split into 4 shifts of 4 hours each. Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 12:00 to 4:00 pm and the same Sunday.

Anyone who works one 4 hour shift will receive a FREE RO hat and shirt, FREE lunch, and one (1) FREE item from GLOCK. If you work both shifts on the same day, you will get the hat, shirt and lunch, along with two(2) FREE items from GLOCK. If you work shifts both Sat. and Sun., you will get the hat, shirt and two (2) FREE items from GLOCK and a FREE lunch both days.

As always, each shift you work will get you one entry into the workers only pistol drawing for three (3) FREE GLOCK pistols (workers can only win one pistol so there will be three (3) different winners). So if you help us set up, and work both four hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday, you will have FIVE chances to win a FREE GLOCK.

Please contact Jeremy Kifer GSSF Match Director @ glock@bgslinc.com.

Thanks for looking,

A.T.

A.T., it's people like you that help keep this sport going....

Not to slight any other clubs out there as I haven't shot at most of them, but the guys at BGSL are Top Notch, A1 people. If you have any inkling to get out there and shoot, these guys will bend over backwards to help that become reality. A super bunch of people. Kudos to Corey, Tom, Kevin, and all the others I've had the pleasure of meeting and shooting with!

So,.... when the hell are you coming back?:roflol:

A.T.

I should be back up there for the November USPSA match (I hope!). I'm down in San Juan, Puerto Rico right now, then it's to St. Croix, USVI, then back home (or at least closer to it!). I've spent a grand total of 9 days at home since Aug 8th.
