Corey
While each option seems to have followers and detractors and each side has its pros and cons i think this thread shows what is the popular trend in our game.
Bryan 45
Can we call it the "tested trend"? Popular is not indicative of performance. Jeans with holes are popular- but they are not very functional. I think it's more important for shooters to understand the why rather than the which. Graham Smith
I think it's more important for shooters to understand the why rather than the which. Particularly given the rate of change in available equipment. What was "the best available" one year ago may be only above average today. Also, rules change. The only thing that got me thinking about this was the change to allow a red dot in Limited.

I think most of the better shooters have at least monkeyed with the use of a red dot and magnifier. I even saw ONE major match get one with a red dot (Mike Voigt and an Eotech) and then I never saw him shoot another match with a red dot as primary sight. The red dot/magnifier is not a bad system, in fact a wise soldier once told me it's an 80% system. That's a pretty good description.
Jin
... In the meantime, I picked up a TR24G...which I did try out prior to purchase, and it worked well to aid my bad eyes at medium distances (200-300 yards). but, my main concern is if i will be able to utilize the 1X at speed (i have a match this weekend). i have been practicing looking beyond the scope and not though it...and so far it seems pretty user friendly because of the big bright TR24 triangle. we'll see how it works out for me in a couple days. ... graham, this past weekend was the first time shooting in a 3 gun match with the TR24G. and happened to be my third time out. let me start off by saying i ranked lower than i did the the first two times out with an Aimpoint. but that was due to errors on my part; which I would have screwed up with the red dot as well. Overall i <3 the TR24G...there was no learning curve for me using the triangle @ 1X. i found it to be just as easy/fast as my aimpoint. but, i wasn't shooting in odd body positions to report about that. Mike shot an Aimpoint / magnifier at the 3 Gun Nation final in Vegas.
joshua79109
I wonder if a cross dominance (right handed left eye dominant) plays into the opinions any? (besides the other reasons listed)
