    New 1-6 ACOG

you can easily find Trijicon on sale for 30% off MRSP. So street price should be around $1589. good point...TR24 price on the trijicon website says $1050; and I think paid less than $680 for it.

    New 1-6 ACOG

Looks funky..but I like it...sort of. Snaps I just bought a vortex 1-6 a couple weeks ago...like it a lot. If the vcog was say... $1750 and I did not buy the vortex yet...I would be interested in taking a look at one.
  3. Alamo, I got the MGM switchview lever in @ the beginning of the week; pretty sweet. i like the length of the lever...it's not obnoxiously protruding, but enough for some leverage. some leverage was definately needed, changing the magnification requires a bit of muscle. hopefully it loosens up a bit down the road. i believe i found a decent spot on the rifle to optimize eye relief; i have it on a larue SPR-E mount. it's pushed pretty far foward because I run the VLTOR stock on the third position setting "3".
  4. i thought my eyes were playing tricks on me as well. it appears the right nostril is bigger than the left...
  5. Nice bearcave! I hope to play with the BDC this weekend. Did a quick comparison to a TR24....the eyebox is not quite as large/forgiving on the vortex, but it is pretty close; which says a lot. Because the TR24 is not picky at all. What I did initially notice yesterday playing around with 1X on the vortex was that it made objects seem smaller....I am talking about at close objects ~ 15 yard away. And with both eyes open it was a bit disorienting. Then I noticed the focus adjustment was turned all the way in (clockwise). I turned it out counter clockwise a bit and was able to tune the 1x so objects ~ 15 yards seemed truly 1x. I don't know if the focus ring is shipped from the factory turned in all the way, and I don't know if the focus ring also has the dual purpose if fine tuning @ 1x. I guess I will find out at the range when my distant targets seems blurry.
  6. Time to look for a throw lever...is MGM switchview a decent choice?
  7. didn't get to shoot as much as I wanted with the vortex this weekend, but had the chance to at least shoot a bit at 200 to get it sighted in. pretty sweet scope!!! Fine reticle for distance and bright reticle at 1x. and the glass impressed my cousin who has pretty high standards.
  8. Appreciate the input all. just completed the order through Liberty Optics (Scott). Will follow up with my initial thoughts of the optic after sighting it in... Thanks
  9. Thanks Pat. ~ 3 MOA @ 1X sounds good. In the process of ordering one. I have been comparing the vortex 1-6 vs the Leopold Mark6...hoping the vortex would come out on top due to less damage on the wallet. Although i like the hash marks for windage; I was reading the recticle is hard to see on the Leupold Mark6 (first focal plane) at 1X.
  10. thanks glock34shooter! last question, as I have pretty much decided on this scope...how big is the center dot @ 1X magnification? online manual says the dot is 1/2 MOA...but I assume that's at 6X, and was wondering how large it was at 1X. thanks!
  11. Is the ADM recon X (additional cant) preferred over the regular recon mount for this optic? For comparison I shoot with a Larue SPR-E on the TR24 trijicon.
  12. Hello anyone happen to know if the reticle on this optic is brighter than the leupold 1-6 mk6 reticle?
  13. Thanks all...hopefully I get to run into one soon...would like to see it in person before jumping on it. Anyone happen to know if the vortex 1-6 illumination is brighter than the leupold 1-6 horseshoe reticle? Ouch...that Leopold is not cheap...heh. I have heard the Leopold reticle is not so bright...in full sunlight...
  14. About to add a second AR15 this weekend; I'm not sure why...it's not like i have surplus ammo... Am researching the Vortex 1-6 right now...would you fellas know who sells it at the lowest price? Thanks!
  15. A good buddy of mine came up with a staggered double mag pouch that has a mechanism that kicks out the inner most mag when the outer one is removed. I have preferred to use single magazine, but am anxious to give this one a try next time out. anyhow, i think he's onto something...and wanted to share! Demonstration... 16. Are brakes just louder for people around the shooter? Or does the shooter get subject to increased loudness as well? For example...miculek brake. To me as the shooter it seems louder.
  17. shot a match last weekend, changed out my miculek brake for an A1 flash hider. ears still rang a little after the match, so it must be the other shooters, not my rifle; but i'm still going to run mine without a brake. I did mess up a couple times though...the ear muffs were bothering me, so i took them off while taping up targets, and forgot to put them on with a couple shooters blasting loud ass brakes (was just wearing ear plugs). i'm wearing peltor triple flanged ear plugs (26 db), and howard leight impact sports (22 db). thanks for posting your experience...it has me re-considering going the route of a suppressor. will also look for some better ear plugs.
  18. The same thing happened with my 930 SPX. My friend's JM 930 also had a few light primer strikes. I think we shot about 50 rounds of walmart Federal shells, 3 shells had indentions, but did not fire. On one of them, we put back in the shotgun, and it fired the 2nd time. he's going to try different ammo. i suggested the Remington shurshot from academy.
  19. gng4life, thanks, i am starting to display hearing issues. if it is real quiet, like in my bedroom at night...i can hear distinct ringing. last week i was at the range...i had changed out the miculek brake to an A1 flash hider, and was wearing some triple flanged ear plugs and some howard leight impact sports (going to ditch my older ear muffs). didn't bother my ears despite my cousin shootin his AR with a surefire brake next to me.
  20. searching on the web, i have seen mention of the PWS FSC and the battlecomp not being overly loud. it's probably because they are a hybrid of a flash hider + compensator. but yes, i have been thiking about a suppressor.
  21. which compensators are least disruptive to the shooter? i have the Miculek compensator...and as expected, it is terrible for people next to me; but to me...it seems pretty loud. i suppose this is a trait for any compensator that has many baffles? after some matches, even with ear plugs + ear muffs, I get some ringing. I think part of my problem was that my ear muffs are old and tired.
  22. Jesse T, That is about how hard i whacked mine. if i had to describe the force exerted...just enough to drive a nail into a fresh 2x4. thanks for posting the video!
  23. i will get with Benny to design a tactical mount that holds a hotdog over the ejection port.
  24. it's really a preference thing. some suggest that having sights will slow you down when shooting birdshot. others love sights and will just ignore them if need be. also depends if your match director likes to make you shoot 90 yard slug targets. but then again some shooters have no problem just centering the front fiber optic against the vent rib. I saw on this board a cheap fix by marking the ramp to the vent rib...so i just used some nail polish to paint a triangle for windage. i also have some elevation POI issues...so i had a taller front dovetail sight installed.
