All-Gator
Last Sunday's match at Cool Springs (GA) included a stage which was actually an IPSC classifier. It included a string (one of three) beginning with picking up a loaded pistol from a table with the weak hand...no use of the strong hand was allowed, ie, you couldn't pick it up with the strong hand and shift it to the weak hand. Some discussion insued about whether this was a violation of not requiring a draw with the weak hand. After a bit, a "what the hell" attitude prevaled and the task was shot by all without incident. Any opinions about the USPSA legality of such a requirement? A-G Edited July 26, 2010 by All-Gator
BayouSlide
Shouldn't have been much discussion: that rule is pretty specific : 8.2.4 A course of fire must never require the competitor to draw a handgun from the holster with the weak hand. Not drawing from the holster...no prohibition exists according to this rule. Curtis
Scott R
Can you post the WSB or a link to it if it is a classifier?
boz1911
I hated that start too, felt unsafe even though it wasn't. I guess it felt that way because I had never done a weak hand only start before. My first shot as evidenced in my video was fired with a very poor grip, after that I finally had a decent grip.
All-Gator
Scott, Sorry, I don't have that info...but the MD would have it. A=G
George Jones
I would not favor such a start, simply because of safety concerns for single-action guns without an ambi-safety.
Team Amish 1
Interesting, which classifier was that? It's an unusual start for sure. This must be one of the few times a revolver really has the technical edge...
