Recommended Posts

IM me your email if you want the score details. Will also be posted at www.whidpa.com in a day or so.

This month we were hosted by the Cawthon Cartridge Club. Excellent facility and thanks to Mr. T53 for the facility.

Thanks to Fred Q for the last 30 days of fabricating to make all the props. All worked well. no malfunctions.

Four Stages:

Rifle Only stage (hoser): 4 shooting positions, including low prone, plenty of paper to neutralize.

Shotgun Stage: 12 poppers, 7 plates, a slug gong(shot 4 times), a rabbit and a Texas Star from low prone!!! A challenging mix of select slug loading (approx 80 yds), knowing your pattern at 20 yds and not messing up your loading plan

Jungle Run: "Secret Stage" Competitors keep out of stage till shot. Started with a 50 yd pistol shot, then follow the path down the creek bed dropping poppers as you saw them, final position rifle (which you carried) two mini poppers at 100-125 yds)

Long Range Rifle: 1st shot 100yd off hand, then to 1st bunker , crawl in 3 flash targets at 200, 300 & 400 yds, then to second bunker, from right side right shouldered 3 flash targets at 180, 280 & 380 yds, then from left side left shouldered.

Match should have challenged all of your shooting skills.

Low penalty time goes to Kyle McGregor & Chad Nicosia, well shot.

Overall match winner: Jason Tielke, well done

Next month back at the Impactzone.

Thanks for putting on the match Bob. Also a lot of thanks to Fred for all the setup work, prop making, and range work he's done. Thank you also to the range owner for letting us shoot out there. The place is amazing, one of the nicest and most versatile ranges I've been to.

The shotgun stage was very challenging, with the slugs required every 5th shot, most shooting required to be done on the move, and a mixture of target types. Trying to shoot the top plate off the Texas star from underneath the bar I couldn't shoulder the shotgun properly and hit myself in the nose pretty good twice.

Jungle run was a lot of fun, very nice natural terrain in the creek perfect for that type of stage. Finding the targets was most of the challenge. I ran clean past a couple of them. The two rifle targets were even harder to find, only a narrow opening through the brush to spot them. They were the little MGM autopoppers. Being through the brush like that I couldn't tell if they were big targets really far away or little ones just kind of far away.

Long range stage, that first target was 260 yards away not 200  Took 8 shots at it before I noticed they were going just a hair under it. Once I realized that everything went smooth. Hadn't even attempted shooting long range weak handed before that, it was surprisingly easy though. Just have to remember to not put my right hand over the ejection port.

A very good all around match with some of the best stages I've shot anywhere. If this is a small preview of the LaRue match it's going to be incredible.

A great match and a great time! Thanks a million everyone for the volumes of effort put into such a quality match. LaRue is lucky to have such a wonderful team so willing to ensure the upcoming event will be one for the record books. Here is the link to some video that my father shot for me in our squad:

Cheers,

Kyle
