How many mag pouches?

First, I want to say that I looked at the rule book on IDPA site and searched the forum and came up with nothing.

If I remember correctly, there is a limit of how many magazine pouches you can wear on you hip? Is this true?

Actually, there's sort of room for interpretation in that. The rule book says "4. The shooter may carry no more than two spare magazines on the belt". The limit is placed on the number of magazines, not necessarily the number of magazine carriers. For example, when I was shooting a semi-auto I'd have 3 mag carriers on the belt, 1 for the mag that was going in the gun at the start of the stage, and 2 for spares. Plus, that way when I'd have to do a tac reload, I could slam the partially full magazine into the empty carrier, which was always faster and more secure than trying to dump it in a pocket.
