  1. I wanted to share some videos we took over the last couple of weeks with you. We were fortunate to have 3 GM's at the last match - Dave Re, Antoine Lane and David Weers who is our newest member of Team Bullet Hole. We are certainly happy to see him back after a long layoff due to injury.

Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking!!

  2. Kevin, glad you guys came down to shoot with us. B)

It was a great time and I look forward to shooting with you guys every month!! Now if we can just get Otto to change the work day to a match day next month we will be there!!!!

  3. Ooohhhh....how I long to shoot more than 10 rounds in open without having to reload :goof:

Thanks for the video. What format are you using? MiniDV?

    b B)

Yes, MiniDV - seems to be pretty easy with a MAC. 10 rounds open? Man that cannot be right - at least your reloads will be right on every time!!!

  4. Hi Benny,

I'm going to have to agree with Alex. I wrote the scoring program and one feature of it's design was specifically to give a true overall result. It's been a personal pet peeve of mine that various 3 gun matches will declare someone the "Overall winner" based on combined division results. This can provide some really skewed results if the shooters in one division are very close in skill level & the division is small.

Best example would be a match with only 4 guys in Heavy Metal. One of them won every stage, but the other 3 guys were always in the high 80 or 90 points per stage. If Tactical Optics is competitive enough, & several shooters split the stage wins, you would have a HM shooter declared match winner & this 3 fellow HM shooters would all be pretty high up on the order of finish. A major 3 gun match a year or so ago had Taran Butler in 3rd Place & Daniel Horner in 6th overall, with a Tactical Iron shooter declared the overall winner. My calculator said that Taran was 1st, Daniel was second, & the Tact Irons guy was 7th overall.

The program used to score your match calculates each division separately, then recalculates the entire match with one shooter winning each stage (regardless of division) to give you combined overall results.

If the match gives awards and prizes based strictly on divisions (like Ft Benning with separate tables for each division), you get real results. If the match wants to award "order of finish" with a single prize table, you will also get real results.

This is good information as we plan to use the nice program for our Texas 3 Gun Championship next year. Thanks!!!

  5. Great match and great group of guys to shoot with. Thanks for everything Squad 3!!

A HUGE THANKS to Benny, Kevin, and the rest of the guys who made all this possible. I've never shot a match that good, with that many great stages, with that high of a round count, for only $20.

    My personal lessons learned:

    1. Even if you can shoot small groups off a bench at 300 yards, it doesn't mean you can hit an 8" plate at that distance while using a wobbly barrel or chair for support. Practice shooting small targets from odd positions at long ranges.

    2. FTNs suck - take the extra half second, aim, and HIT the damn target.

    3. Practice Shotgun Reloading - enough said.

    4. If you're gonna spend 2 hours prepping and cleaning your equipment the night before, take the time to make a sandwich for lunch - long day with no food.

Can't wait to do it again - are we really gonna wait til next year or can we squeeze another one in during the Fall??

Thanks Doug - We loved having you guys out to the range! WE ARE going to have another 3 gun match before the Championship match to make sure we have everything down. I will post it here - We have a match Hotel lined up already and FOOD and DRINKS will be on the agenda! See you guys soon!!

  6. The match went great! We had 48 shooters from across the country. We will be posting scores tomorrow. I will post a link to the scores on this channel! I would like to thank all the great shooters that came out and shot with us today. I would like to thank all the workers that helped with the match - without you guys there are no matches!!!!

The next 3 gun match we hold will have 8 stages with FOOD and Drinks this time. We will be announcing a Texas 3 Gun Championship match for next year - we will firm a date and post it here. Special thanks goes out to Benny Hill and the Corpus crew!!! Great work guys (except Merlin) Just kidding :P - We cannot wait to have you guys back!!

I will be posting some video from the match and photos to come soon. Thanks!!!!

  7. Just a reminder - the match starts at 9am - All the stages are set and prepare yourself for a great match!! Like we said before - if we have a good turnout we are going to setup the Texas 3 gun championship match for next year around the Sept. time frame with a nice prize table and great looking trophies - food - with 10-11 stages. Look forward to seeing you there!!
