You can send a letter to ATF to change the length of record for your SBR.

The rifle can actually be any length. You just need to readily be able to return it to the configuration that's marked on the Form 1 or 4. Basically, have an upper on hand that's a 9" barrel.

So, either way, you aren't technically not in compliance.

Is anyone ever going to care? Not likely, but it's your gat.

A barrel change is not a permanent change unless you can not get back to the config on your form 1.

Put whatever barrel on it that you want, but keep the 10.5 unless you want to notify the BATFE of a change.

    👌

Put whatever length you want on there. Once its built as a registered SBR it doesn't matter if you change it to a different length. There is no legal requirement to notify them if its changed. Nor is there a law against changing it. Its still an SBR. You certainly can notify them if you wish, same thing if you change calibers. Thats also not required, but if it makes you feel better, write them a letter.

    Thank you!

Keep that dead 10.5 around. Replace it with whatever length you want because you still have the 10.5 on hand to take it back to the original length on your form 1.

But, 7.5s kinda suck because the recoil is harsh and they are really loud.  11.5 -12.5 is about the best all around 223 SBR length for me.  I only have a 7.5 for full-auto fireball fun.

Thanks for the info @Tom Freeman!!!

But, I have 9" barrel length written in my Form 1. Doing the math 7.5 " + 3.28", is way pass 9", would pinning and welding make it legal and compliant?

Why do i have keep the 10.5 barrel?

  7. Hello everyone,

I've been thinking of replacing the barrel of my SBR. When I filled out my Form 1, long time ago, I put 9 inches in the space for the length of the barrel. Currently, I have a 10.5 barrel installed in it with a KX3-PIG Flash Hider, which has at least 3.28" length.

My question is, if I replaced my barrel with a 7.5" and then pin and weld the KX3, which would theoretically (imo) makes the barrel length over what I put in Form 1, which is 9".  Am I still in compliant?

    Thank you!

I am using Android so the iphone app may be different, but I did make sure my app was up to date and there is not an export function.  However the app does show you more than just the velocity.  It will show you the min, max, average, SD and ES for the series. It will show you the averages at the 5 distances you set up in the labradar, eg V10, V20, V30, V40, V50.  When you created the series, if you had set your bullet weight, the app will also show you the energy and the PF.  But if you were doing load dev, and you shot a series with incremental powder charges and you wanted to graph it and you did not have access the SD card then you would have to type in each value manually from the app.

I know the data from the Labradar is accessible from either the SD or USB.  If you had a micro usb to whatever your phone uses cable, you might be able to pull the csv's off the labradar and have them there on your phone.  The files are pretty small so it could probably be done pretty quickly at the range while you are letting your barrel cool down or packing up other stuff.

Oh, these are all very helpful information! Thanks again for your response, I really appreciate it!

They are a small shop and I've found a direct phone call works better than e-mail for companies like them.

Are you talking about the number that is in their website, or a different one? Because I tried the one in the website, but it just keeps ringing.

You can import the .csv files from the SD card into an Excel spreadsheet. You would need a card reader for your computer though. I have done this before.

    Thanks for your response, @amegatek!

I'm just thinking of a scenario where, you don't have access to labradar's sd card anymore, but your phone had connected to it before and have shots information. How would I transfer the shots info without typing it manually.

There is not an export function from the app that I know of.  I am looking at the app right now but there is not an option to export. The SD card in the labradar does have a folder for each series you created.  Inside that folder there is a report csv that list a summary for the series.  These is also another folder within the series folder called TRK and in that folder is a csv for each individual shot.

    Thanks for the info, @Grandmastah

I've got the same question but I think the answer is no.  There is nothing on Magnetospeed's web site about Bluetooth connectivity and a Google search came up empty.

I have an iPhone 8 with no 3.5 mm jack port so the XFR won't work with my phone either.  For that matter I couldn't update the firmware for the V3 display on my SD card a while back since I have an iMAC and their software updates only work with Windows.   I had to call Magnetospeed and they sent me an updated SD card.

Thank you for the info, @SteelCityShooter!

I still haven't gotten any response from an email I sent to them.

  13. Hi guys,

Does anyone in the forum know if Magneto Speed have a way to connect the V3 Chrono through Bluetooth, instead of their XFR adapter, which only works if your phone has a 3.5 mm jack interface?

I emailed Magneto Speed about it, I just haven't received and response from them yet. I figure I should ask the forum, just in case anyone had ask this same question before.

    Thank you!

Mine came in the mail today when I got home from my local match. Had to do some modification to get them to seat and for the bolt to close. DK had them on sale for $18 each, so much cheaper than OEM's with TTI Extension. Looking forward to testing them

Hi there, mxj23! May I ask which TTI Extension did you use? Thanks!

  15. So, I got my new 40 rounder ETS Glock magazine the other day and I was excited. Being new PCC and still in the experimentation stage, my main goal is to experiment on the 40 rnd ETS magazine and what springs will work with it together with the Goliath base pad, and how many round I can get out of it. So I bought the Goliath base pad, and when it arrived (the day after the ETS mags), i was so anxious to try it out, with some of the springs I already have, and to my dismay, Goliath wouldn't work with the ETS 40 rnd magazine.

I got so carried away on how much rounds I can get if this combo (ETS/Goliath) works, missing a little, tiny detail that will cause for it not to work. The reason being is that, ETS 40 round magazine is has a leveled bottom base, and the Goliath base pad has an angled bottom base because it was specifically made for Glock magazine.

I am just putting this info out there, just in case there are some stupid newbies like me out there, thinking of doing the same thing. 🙂

    Old trick but it works,

Hold the muzzle about 1 to 2inches away from a paper uspsa target.

    Fire a round.

If the target has a lot of stipeling and a big hole, the comp is not working very well.

Most if not all of the gas is coming out the front of the comp and not out of the vents.

If after shooting, there is a nice round hole and almost no stipeling the comp is working.

The gas is coming out the vents, not out of the front.

    It works.

Interesting! Thanks for the tip, this is the first time I heard this trick and I would definitely try it when i go to the range. This should works in any guns with comp, right? Like an Open gun? Thanks again for the tip!

You have guns! You don't have to ask, "may" lol. It's made by Atlas for $99 https://atlasgunworks.com/product/atlas-gunworks-magwell-tactical/

I'm not competitive and simply enjoy shooting this gun as configured, It's really nice but low key and not flashy. I have the OEM large funnel as well but I don't think I loose much time with the tactical magwell.

Thanks for the info!!! I like it’s style, it’s definitely going in my Xmas list... tnx again!
