  1. Uhmmmm ....... looks like to a similar problem that I've with my groups ....
  2. I've found very interesting (and useful ...) also the "live fire drills" section in the second book by Steve Anderson: very simple drills but a LOT effective !
  3. Well, speaking about "skeduling the next season" .... the times will be shorter due to the fact that the World Shoot will be in the second half of August 2008 ... So, I suppose that we have to rest only a couple of months, and re-start with training ASAP (not later than January ...).
  4. Nice Plan. Your program seems very-well-done and balanced ! It covers all the elements of our game: tecnical, phisical and mental ... Last year I've read "Thinking Practical Shooting" by Saul Kirsch and I've found an entire chapter related to this. Too many times our focus is ALL for the tecnical side of the game, and almost nothing is left to the mental training. From this side the best reading for me was "With Winning in Mind": very exaustive and useful book for our needs ! Returning to the training plan, I would like to break the live fire program in some different parts, as to cover all the tecniques that are the most important for my level of skill: in other words, I've listed all my weak areas, and I try to build the program working mainly on these arguments ... Now I ask myself also if it could be useful a brief period (like 2 months or so ...) of shooting in ANOTHER division, as example just during the off-season, just to avoid the risk of "loosing interest" in the game itself. From my point of view IPSC shooting (at a certain level) can be confused as a work instead as a (funny) sport, and I was thinking that sometimes having some changes can be a good thing .... I am not saying that I'm just boried, but I want only to avoid the risk ! I've shooted since now in Production, and I was thinking to have a little "break" (only during this winter ...) shooting in Open or in Single Stack ... What do you think about ??
  5. Well, here in Italy the 2007 season is just finished: I am quite happy because I've reached the goal that I've planned at the beginning of the season (shooting at an average of 80% in PD, and passing from B to A class.) and now I want only to rest for a couple of months (a recovery-break is very important ....). In this period I'll have time to think about my training-plan for the next season: any suggestion for "how-to-do" it ? I've just identified my weak-points, and in the future I'll work a lot on these but .... apart this, any other thing to do ?
  6. Grab the advantage of the "quad-mag-pouch" from Blade Tech : http://www.blade-tech.com/Quad-Mag-Pouch-c-284.html
  7. Eheheheh .... I've always thinked the same, but (as said) I felt curious reading that the 3 times World (and European) Champion teaches "how-to-do-it" in 5 different ways .... Well, I know: best thing is to attend the level-3 course with Eric but Florida it's a long way from Italy and so I have to wait the next occasion ....
  8. I haven't taken EG's course either (would be cool, I'm sure), but I can think of a couple of things about chairs. If I have to get up and move immediately, I like to have my lead foot outside of the chair legs and pointed in the direction I'm going. If it's just stand and shoot, I like to be able to stand up and push the chair back with the backs of my legs (sorta happens by itself). I think it's a good idea to have your back offset to the gun side so the magwell won't hit the chair. Good tecnique, I agree ! I've also "capt" some other very-good tips in the last Saul Kirsch's USPSA Open & Lim.10 Nats DvD, watching Max Michel and TGO leaving a chair at the beginning of a stage .... The thing begins to be "hotter" when the start position is with both feet between chair legs, hands on knees, and your back must be in contact with the chair back (gun holstered in condition 1) ..... ;-)) In this situation, at the beep I try to throw out my left foot & arm, pointing back the right foot for pushing rearward, putting at the same moment my right hand on the gun .... That's right ? Any suggestion ?
  9. I'm curious to know what are your (usual) techniques with a start position "sitting on a chair". I know that Eric Grauffel speaks of 5 (!) different techniques about "leaving a chair" in his level 3 course, and since I've not jet attended it .......
  10. I can't wait to see it ! ! ! I've wished to build a device such this till I've started shooting ......
  11. Of course, it's properly screwed down: "cheek-to-cheek" with the shellplate !
  12. Thanks Bob ... already done, it's a lot better, but the problem still exist. Every 200 brasses, I have 2 or 3 decapping failure ... I know that it could be depending to the brasses, but I ask myself if exist a definitive solution ! Is there on the market a more efficient resizing/decapping die ?
  13. Hi folks, well ... just to inform all of you about the challenge with my new Super 1050 ... I've worked a lot on it, following ALL the tips I've found here, in this EXCELLENT thread, and last night .... I've finally reloaded my first 200 rounds without primer feeding problems ! Now I've only to solve a little issue about decapping: Reloading 200 rounds, I've got a couple of non-decapped brasses in which the spent primes was compressed by the swager .... Not a very-big problem because when this brass arrives over the priming station you can feel it with the crank and stop. Anyway now I'm serching for a solution for this problem too ... My Dillon reseller suggested me to replace the original decapping pin with the RCBS one (longer) but I dont' know how because the lower part of the RCBS pin is much more thin that Dillon's one. Any suggestion ? Thanks so much !
  14. ..... "WHY THE SUPER 1050 ISN'T BLUE ? ? ? ". I know. this is a very silly question but after mounting my new super 1050 on the bench, near the AT 500 and the XL 650 ..... well, I've thinked to PAINT in blue this "big dark stuff" ! Is there a reason for black colour instead blue on the 1050 ?
  15. WOW, RIGHT ! ! That's perfect ! I'll try it ! ! Thanks so much !
  16. By the way ..... Can anybody suggest to me a good way for setting properly the swager ? I've followed the user's manual indications, but I'm not sure to have done all well .... Any tip/trick for a good setup ? Thanks so much !
  17. Yeah, that's true ! I have to start ASAP the "challenge" with the Super 1050, but I'm still waiting for the "right inspiration" ... and mostly a few spare time): at the moment I'm preparing for the EHC in France ...
  18. Hi Folks, I've got my new Super 1050 only two weeks ago and I'm getting crasy for the same problem (primer feedin & crushed primers) me too .... I'm very disappointed because when I've decided this upgrade (I own also an XL650 ...) I NEVER woulh have thinked this kind of problems ... The result is that ... the 1050 lies on the bench near the "old faitful" XL650, and this last .... now must work also for the biggest sister ... I've read all your precious tips on the argument, and - when I'll have time - I'll try the suggested solutions ... My only question is: HOW IS POSSIBLE THAT DILLON HAS NOT YET COVERED (& SOLVED) THIS PROBLEM ? Thanks to you all Stefano
  19. The only - possible - problems related with the FCD I've heard are about "accurate shooting": with FCD the bullet (in such cases) might be resized, and (in such cases) the groups might be larger .... In my modest opinion we must take in evidence what is our final goal: "bench-rest-shooting with handgun" or practical (and reliable) shooting ? I dont' believe that at my level of skill (I'm now an "A" class shooter ...) at any distance between 10 and 25 yards the result on the target might be SO different (with or without FCD ...). I'm wrong ?
  20. Really ?? Do you have some relatives here in Genoa ? If I can help you in such a manner ... no problem: ask to me ! Stefano
  21. After 4 years of reloading I'm so happy & proud of my XL 650 that .... yesterday I've bought a new Super 1050 as my 3rd press (I've also the AT500 ...) I'm a pruduction IPSC shooter, I reload in 9mm., and I've always used on the last station of the XL 650 the Lee factory crimp die .... Now I ask myself if it's a good idea to mount it on the 1050: the doubt comes from some club buddyes, saying that (in such cases) the factory crimp die isn't SO useful .... It's hard for me to think this because in 4 years of training and competition I've NEVER had ammo-problems .... What's your opinion about the factory-crimp-die ? Useful or useless ? Thanks !
  22. OK guys, thanks for the suggestions: I've decided to go on for a Super 1050 ... Only a question about mounting the two presses (XL 650 + SUper 1050) on the same bench: it seems to me (looking at some pictures fouded here, in the forum ...) that for having the two handles at the same level the XL650 requires the "strong-mount" and the Super 1050 can be mounted directly on the bench: right ? I've made my previous bench for the XL650 a little bit higher than usual, just to avoid the strong-mount, placing the press directly on the table. Now, adding on the same bench the Super 1050 I think I have to lower the bench itself a little bit, right ? Thanks ! Stefano
