I'd like to go to one these new shooter friendly events everyone talks about.
That is a dang shame and would not be your experience at any of the four clubs I shoot with here in South Louisiana.
If you're ever in our area, PM me. Not only will you find welcome but new shooters shoot for free (or just the classifier cost) at all our clubs!

Don't know if I can say best except for me, but I use M-Pro7 for most everything. Non-toxic and no odor are a plus for indoors use. I'll supplement it with Kroil for thorough scrubbing on rifle barrels.

Even IPSC and IDPA shooters aren't always perfect. It's interesting to watch competitive shooters go from a match under IPSC/IDPA rules to practice or "outlaw" matches.
I used to shoot an "outlaw" match a local indoor range holds every other week. About 1/2 of the shooters there compete in one format or another outside of this match. I was squatting by my bag loading magazines and glanced to my right to see one of the other shooters, a regular at IPSC/IDPA (he's even an assistant MD and RO/SO), "clearing" his gun with the muzzle about 8" away pointing at my head
It wasn't on purpose. But he was so focused on what he was doing he didn't notice me right next to him.As a whole, competitive shooters are much more safety aware. We just can't assume we're the best and get complacent though.
To me, that's a symptom of the "when rules aren't rigorously enforced, they are no longer rules" mentality—they have faded into the background rather than staying in the forefront of our minds where they belong.

If it's just tarnished or slightly discolored, it shouldn't be a problem. If it's corroded, I usually trash it.

The Comp-Tac is much more stable than most paddle holsters I've tried: it's the only paddle holster I'd buy.

I have a Benelli M2 Tactical with standard rifle sights. Is there any way to upgrade these sights to some sort of fiber optic front sight?
Next question, is the aluminum Nordic magazine tube durable enough to use for duty use as well as 3-gun or should I buy a steel magazine extension?
If you couple the Nordic tube with the Nordic clamp I would think you'd have a pretty bulletproof setup, so to speak.

In my experience (probably temps from high 90s to low 60s), Titegroup has never varied too much for me, maybe a PF difference of 1 - 3, but I don't load at the limits of minor.
I and my G34 are MUCH more comfortable with a PF around 135+.

Without a doubt, an STI Executive in .40 S&W tweaked by Dave Dawson...shot a buddy's last week and it was true love if I had the cash and wanted to jump to Limited. The sweetest, best handling pistol I've ever had the pleasure to shoot.

As a rule of thumb, above 100 yards. And definitely right to the 4X stop on 200 and over.
95 percent of the time, I'm at the two extremes of 1X or 4X. A cat-tail type speed lever really helps.

I'm probably the only person you know who has a creamsicle orange, non-drop-free, 17-round, fully functional, factory Glock 9mm magazine. (grin) Ah, exclusivity is its own reward....
There are a number of oranges ones about. (I think they gave them out at GSSF matches?)

I'm with Flex. Someday you will be chronoed first thing on a cold fall morning...or mid-afternoon in July. I've seen various match chronos run 1-3 PF on either side of mine.
The last two guys I warned not to cut it so close didn't pay attention...and they got bumped to minor in Limited at their first big match with a chrono stage. They had tested mid-day on a hot day in September with a 169 at best and weren't aware that the powder they liked was temperature sensitive. Unfortunately, they drew an early morning chrono time on a cool late October morning before the sun had warmed things up.

If you have fairly big hands you might find the standard AR grip a little small. I've recently converted everything to Magpul's MIAD grips. Comes with inserts to customize the front/back length to your hand. Much better, more natural angle on the trigger is the result, for me. The little compartment can hold batteries, an allen or torx wrench for your scope, an extra firing pin, etc.
Not crap, but cheap enough and the grip texture is a little more secure to boot.

Right you are...often times my thinking gets stuck in the Level I world, where they're one and the same. And despite my joke, I would assume in the real world, the incorrectly applied procedural would just be removed when the RM overruled the incorrect call. No reshoot would apply, unless I got so fed up with people gaming the stage that I tossed my timer at the competitor in frustration and thereby interfered with his run.
Love the rules forum...plenty of thorny issues, plenty to learn and plenty of people to keep you honest

The WSB does not specify when it can be taken from the shelf.

Procedure says:
Start Position: Standing behind counter, both wrists above respective shoulders, loaded gun and magazines to be used on the shelf under the counter. Gun must be on it side - not propped up by any artifical means. Magazines may be flat or on edge on the shelf. Neither the gun nor the magazines may extend beyond the open edge of the shelf.
Stage Procedure: Upon start signal, from behind the counter engage T1 - T3 with only two rounds per target. Then make a mandatory reload with a magazine taken from the shelf and from behind the counter engage T1 - T3 with only two rounds per target.

The magazine was taken from the shelf; it was just placed on the table top during the draw. If you tried to issue me a procedural you had better get your rule book out and point to a specific rule. I would read the stage procedure as don't load off your belt, but from the mag that started on the shelf.
The WSB seems rather straightforward to me. And if so, then 10.2.2 would apply. If I'm your R.O., that's my call. Whether the M.D. agrees, that's his call.
Maybe Troy McManus or George Jones will check in on this. As George knows, it won't be the first time I've put myself out on a limb

Per 10.2.2, "a competitor who fails to comply with a procedure specified in the written stage briefing will incur one procedural penalty for each occurance. However, if a competitor has gained a significant advantage during non-compliance, the competitor may be assessed one procedural penalty for each shot fired, instead of single penalty."
So, one procedural penalty, per 10.2.2.

What you're describing runs counter to the WSB and is a loser to boot. I'd say no and would issue a procedural if someone did that...but only one because it really offers no competitive advantage.

The LW 3.5# connector is excellent, I have 'em on four of my Glocks, but probably the only one of the mods you're discussing that I would consider, except if I was building a competition gun.

You can read that Rule book cover to cover 10 times and you won't learn half of what you learn when you run shooters.
Actually, if you want to become a great R.O., read the rule book cover to cover 10 times and then you'll remember what you'll need to know to apply those rules correctly on the fly as you run shooters. Every time you come back from a match, review the rule book regarding scoring or other issues that cropped up to make sure you have your game down cold. Sometimes rules are applied incorrectly at local matches: be the guy who can straighten things out, not confound the problem.
And spend some time in the USPSA/IPSC rules forum here on BEnos...it's like dry firing for R.O.s...you'll be exposed to a lot of potential issues that you never considered but will probably run into at a match eventually.

Had a lot of practice on one stage at the recent Steel City Tactical Carbine Championship that was full of ports at different angles, all shielded with barrels to play with your mind and make you switch around once you entered the port. A small adjustment should be all it takes. Here's how I try to remember it:
SCOPE ROTATION
Rotate left (ejection port up), aim slightly right : 2 o'clock hold
Rotate right (ejection port down), aim slightly left : 10 o'clock hold
Test with your zero but it should be just a minor adjustment of your aim point: less than two inches for me.
On a decent size steel target, you'll hardly notice at 100 yds IMO.
