  1. Since were already on this topic... Are the Safari land 773's as good as the CRspeed mag pouches??? theyre 10 bucks cheaper per pouch... do the 773's lean out away from the body as much or more than the crspeeds???
  2. Thanks for the replies... I'ma order the 38" Also, does anyone know if Chuck from Shooters Connection has a profile on this forum??
  3. I was using my XD9 4". I use it to shoot Limited, since I can't afford a custom gun at the moment, I know I'm minor handicapped, but my thinking is that it will just make me better fighting for all A's... Anyway... Yeah I was staying pretty consistent between .18's and about .22's never as high as .25. As for what I'm seeing at speed... Since I'm already on target, I'm trying not to anticipate the buzzer since my focus isn't on a fast reaction time, even though sometime good reaction times end up being the byproduct. As soon as I break the trigger and see the front sight start to lift I shift my vision to the next plate and actually see the gun floating to the plate as I hear the first shot hit, and as soon as I see the front sight drift onto the 2nd plate I break the next shot. I've actually learned that FOR ME if I bring my eyes to the top edge of the 2nd plate I can acquire my 2nd sight picture on the center of the plate more consistently than actually bringing my eyes to the center of the plate and trying to line up my eyes the plate and my sights... if that makes sense...
  4. One of my favorite drills is to use my hanging plate rack with 8" plates and at 10yds shoot each outside plate. The plates are about 6' apart, and I start on target on either plate then after the buzzer shoot a plate, and transition to the second plate. Came about this drill trying to find ways to save money on ammo for practice, and since it only takes 2 bullets per attempt you can make alot of passes at it. My split times on average are .18's to .22's. I don't concentrate on the reaction time, just use the buzzer as a starting point, it really helps me with learning what I see at high speed transitions... Any Thoughts???
  5. Fixing to order a CR Speed belt, but unsure about how much bigger I should order it than my pants size??? I wear 34's or 36's, figure I should order a 38...??? Thanks for any help... L. J. A58364
  6. Yeah I'd just give him a reshoot... Also at our local club matches we almost never have a WSB unless we thought the stage up days earlier and wrote it all out... otherwise we all build the stages the day before, or the morning of the shoot this is a "Volunteer" sport... we give a very detailed briefing and walk through and give plenty of time for anyone to ask questions ... we usually have between 10 and 20 shooters, so this isn't a problem... thats why we usually ask "do you understand the course of fire and what your about to do" before LAMR... Its a LOCAL match... i doesn't even HAVE TO BE uspsa affiliated if we don't want it to, so I don't see it being a huge problem especially with such a small number of shooters...
  7. I believe it all depends on the situation... at our club we usually have between 10 and 20 shooters, everyones friendly, and everyone wants to see everyone else do good... if we have a kid come shoot, which we usually have no more than 1 at a time, and he is havin problems we'll give him a little help... what does it hurt... its local level... a little bit of "constructive coaching" isn't gonna hurt any body elses scores, AND we know better than to do this at a bigger match... obviously at an area match or something like that there would be zero tolerance, but at the local level it doesn't hurt a thing... especially if its someone who hasn't been shooting long or just has a huge brain fart... now if its someone yelling something out that the shooter was gonnado any way, PURELY to the benefit of helping him run the course smoother thats not right, but givin someone a little help that needs it at the local level shouldn't be such a big deal...
  8. Some of you guys are mentioning that your not sure what to say in the situation where a shooter is not yet in the shooters box... Just because you may be R.O.ing doesn't mean you can't use any part of the english language BUT the range commands... if you need to communicate something to a shooter then do it... Yes the range commands are there as commands, but youve gotta be smart enough, and the shooter should be smart enough to be able to communicate with each other even before the "event" of LAMR has came about... If someone is sooo zoned in on shooting that they Load and make ready when you walk up and say "so, are you doin alright this morning", then they should be DQed for being unsafe... yes I understand some people get zoned out before theyre turn, but its unsafe to lose your human consciousness in order to compete... any thoughts???
  9. for the amount of conflict it seems to cause in relation to the "challenge" your trying to impose, its not worth it... Your just trying to slow the draw time down a little, then this "challenge" is over... best way to do this would be to place the gun loaded somewhere away from the shooter where they would have to retrieve it... same "challenge" is met with no hassle, and its a regular practice of stage design to do this...
  10. My XD is setup in this way... It has an extended mag release, trigger job set at about 2lbs, and dawson sights, I also use grip tape... None of this is illegal in production division... (I'm also an R.O. pending whenever my test gets turned in) I contacted John Amidon and heres what he had to say... Date: Tue, 30 Jan 2007 19:42:08 -0500 Hi Lance, The rules allow trigger work, they also allow fiber optic sights as along as they remain of the notch and post type. The mag release offered by Springfield is legal to change, you can find the reference to this by going to the uspsa.org web site, click on the link on the left that say's match rules, scroll down the page to NROI rulings, click on this and click on External Modifications. Hope to see you on the range. I am not yet a member of USPSA, but am going to send my application in next weekend. I have been shooting matches since August of last year, and have decided to have some work done to my pistol. I shoot a Springfield XD 9mm Service, and want to keep it legal for production division. I'm going to get a triggerjob between 3.5 and 4 pounds, have some Dawson precision fiberoptic sights installed, and am wondering if it is legal within the realm of production division to have an extended mag release installed, i believe the extended mag release I want to install is about 1/16th of an inch longer than the stock one, and if I'm not mistaken it is offered from Springfield Armory. I would like to know what the ruling is on magreleases in Production division. Thanks L. J. Joshlin Area 4
  11. Thats what I thought at first, was completely against the fact that my xd could be DA even if its a weird version of DA, aksed 3 different pistolsmiths about it, a couple of RO's and even called someone at uspsa headquarters, and springfield armory, all confirmed this... otherwise you couldn't use it in Production division in uspsa...
  12. The striker IS NOT fully cocked on the XD It's very close, but it isn't. If you own an xd you can try this out yourself. (disclaimer) Unload and get all ammo out of the room, then rack/cock the XD, hold it where you can watch the firing pin indicator VERY closely, it moves back about a couple thousanths before actually striking. This is what allows it to be production legal as per USPSA rules on the Production class states that there can only be Double action guns in Production. ::::US APPENDIX D9:::: US Production Division Special conditions: 17. Only handguns approved and listed on the USPSA website may be used in Production Division. 18. Single-action-only handguns are prohibited. 19. Handgun may not be in single action mode at start signal.
  13. OOh nice Jak Icon KevinC... And Knight, I really wish I could afford a full out open gun lol I'm sure it would be really fun, but I can barely afford puttin 9mm rounds down range at the moment plus usein my change jar to get me that new DGR is about the most spendin on parts I'm doin until I pay off my truck, or get a raise
