  1. That is a step on the surface of the breach face that wasn't machined off correctly. When the round fires it slams back against the breach face and gets the mark. It is usually on the brach face opposite the extractor and can be hidden by dirt and brass residue. Wipe off the breach face and look closely.

  2. I tried weak hand after loading strong hand for years and found it was a wash for the most part but a certain percentage of times I had issues re-acquiring my grip on the SH reload which made the shot to shot time longer because I had to readjust. I noticed Jerry talked about why he likes his grips is because he can squirm them to adjust his grip while shooting and he can't do that with a rubber type grip.

With the WH reload I never have issue with my grip so the WH reload is way more consistent for me so that is what I do now.

  3. Blade tech makes two different types of holster for the 17L/24. A open front version that is their "competition" and also a regular closed version. I tried the open front version and didn't like how it felt to me so ended up with a regular drop/offset OWB closed version. I like that better and I can use any of the shorter versions of the small framed glock in it with no issues.

  4. CCI primers are slightly harder to seat due to size and cup thickness so as Guy said if they fired with a second hit I would say you need to look at making sure they are seated correctly to make sure the anvil has been set so it can ignite properly.

I specifically use CCI LP's for a large batch of 10mm brass that has been fired more than a few times and the primer pockets are loose but not too much. Since the CCI's fit a bit tighter they work well and I can continue to use the batch of brass for lite steel shooting loads.

  5. Funny, I have never heard of anyone having one of their S&W replaceable front sights popping out like that. I don't think I would have ever even thought of that, probably until it happened to me. :angry2:

Don't tend to hit my gun on things like doorways so I guess I am low risk. I did smack the comp on my open gun on a metal "doorway" one year at Doubletap. Had the run on video and as I went through the doorway you hear this big metal klink!

Thanks! Since the factory blade is .220" it would seem that is a bit higher. The height is what I was wondering about since the rear blade is higher than any other blade I have seen from S&W. I am guessing it is working for your customers which is what I was wondering about.

I would like to be able to do that and if I could finds someone local (hate shipping guns) I would ask for a group rate and get it done to more than a few of my S&W revolvers.

I have the easy interchangeable sight on my 627 and wondered why they didn't do it on the PC 929? It would be some much nicer but I would guess $ has something to do with it.

  7. Just wondering what others have gone to for their 929, height and width? I noticed that the rear factory blade is higher that the normal S&W rear blade and didn't know if that would have any implications for blade height or thickness. I found I liked the FO blade I have on my 627 and really noticed not having one when shooting my new 929 so I need to get one.

    Thanks for any/all info,

  8. What happens when you decap the blazer cases the decapping pin breaks out the center between the two berdan flash holes getting rid of the anvil. This results in a large jagged "flash hole" and some of the bottom of the pocket remaining which lets a regular boxer primer get seated so the case can be reloaded. It works but usually the cases split after the 2nd firing from my experience.

Years ago the blazer cases were loaded with an odd sized primer which was sized between small and large pistol. I worked at a commercial ammunition reloader in college and a blazer .38 case would slip through every once in a while. it would break out the bottom of the primer pocket but since the primer pocket was bigger the primer didn't seat and fell right back out. When we were packaging the ammo I would find them loaded with bullet and powder but no primer.
