  4. A couple changes on round count because the mountains talked to us, but shouldn't make much of a difference in shipping ammo etc. All the stages are on the ground and shot in! Think it will be challenging and fun. Check out our facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/HemanNationals/ for some pictures! Registration will start around 11 am on Friday, May 13!!! Denise

  7. Wow! What a great bunch of folks out this weekend. The weather was nice...wind was a little sporty as always! Hope everyone had a good time! Thanks for cleaning up and tearing down and in general, being a very efficient group!! Results are posted at: http://johnson3gun.webs.com/ under results! Next Johnson 3-Gun match isn't until July 23. (Lot's of big matches and travel in between!) On July 24, JJ will have another 2 rifle match out in Coal Canyon to get ready for the Nightforce 2-Rifle match! Thanks again! Denise
  8. Even USPSA doesn't use hit factor for 3-Gun any more. It's time plus (either total or points per stage) so there's really no feedback like hit factor for a quick mental check! :-)
  9. DA45acp is right. At Rocky Mountain, the winners of all 5 divisions go to the prize table at the same time. There are 5 100%'s. Because we calculate their percent based on just their division and there are 5 division winners. We do reserve 1 JP rifle for someone from each division. When they are called, they can take from their special division prizes or go to the big prize table. we also pull a couple of good prizes for a division that has a much bigger gap between first and second than any other divisions. That way 2nd and 3rd and sometimes, all the way through 5th get a good prize even though they have a lower percentage. This usually comes into play if Jerry or Daniel (or someone else ) has an incredible match, and no one else in their division kept up. Sponsors seem to like this because people have to look at more of the prize table to figure out what they want, because 3rd place in one division may be called 7th or 20th...or somewhere in between depending on others' percentages. It also means someone in any division has a chance to win the one of a kind prizes (if they shoot well enough). AND, a He-Man can get a red dot if they want one...or an Open shooter can pick up a bunch of .45 bullets if they want. Only drawback we've found is the tac-scope people expect the biggest table to be all theirs! We've also found a growth in the smaller divisions...maybe division shopping...maybe just getting to shoot the gear they want knowing they will not get a less valuable prize than someone with a similar performance in tac-scope.
  10. Maybe your ROs should check with their rule books and do their job: But I wrote exactly the same thing for SO to check top results on each stage for any anomalies. With the nooks...I can't even read my score...they do their best, but in the sun being sure that little decimal point isn't in the wrong place is not an easy task...people are fallible...RO's are volunteers and can only do their best. Competitors need to check as well. Mistakes are made. By the way, having the proper score on the score sheet is NOT always a guarantee that it's in the computer right...sometimes, even if it was entered correctly. Someone else overrides that entry...someone ends up correcting something for the wrong person...Sometimes, it's no ones fault...a computer glitch is often not even traceable to the programmer. Doodoo happens!
  11. As one of those surprise MD's...I even agree and we posted it all last year! But, we have the luxury of being done scoring for RM3G the night before awards so we have time to check and recheck!
  12. But, and I know what I speak...it's possible that your stage score is correct, but because of a glitch, your match score is NOT a combination of all your stage scores. Computers do err...as well as people. TO the one of you who thought the RO's should look through scores...ick! Mine are busy enough. BUT, we do have a stats team to check all scores to be sure they match on paper and in the computer...hopefully, eliminates data entry errors. Also, my scorekeeper has a check system in place that pulls the top time from each stage and lets him review it...eliminates the problem ericm refers to in his question. At the time of this occurance, we were just checking to make sure the stage winner made sense...(good shooter....could win stages) but after THAT year, we pull name AND time. He also does spot checks to be sure totals are correct... Why does he do all this?? Because he's a perfectionist, but also because after a long, hard match...many people don't check their scores at all. They just assume the match got them right. With the use of nooks etc, some matches don't even give shooters yellows so they would have nothing to check unless they wrote every stage down on their own paper...so, they don't check. I know of a number of people that have gotten home and found out one of their scores was wrong long after the match was over...too late to make a change. Match stats responsibility to do their best...shooters responsibility to check and question weird things they may notice, someone else may not. Remember, at a 300 person match with say...10 stages, that's 3000 scores to mess up...each one has time, penalties, bonuses etc....probably over 6000 places to make a booboo!!!
  13. For now...just as your email confirmation said...we're probably not going to have buckshot...but not 100% on that yet!
  14. Come on Stlhead, be honest, trying to find something on the 3GN webpage is like trying to find a man who doesn't play the "deaf joke" every chance they get!
  15. It's always a problem trying to get RO's to check equipment etc as they really do have a LOT to do. Ours are finally getting the hang of it, mostly! But, we haven't changed our divisions substantially in years. Last year, we did let supporting devices into He-Man, but we just reminded everyone at our big - day long - RO briefing where we walk through the stages and cover rule changes and concerns etc. At SMM3G, all the long range rifle stages checked my ammo...most twice, before and at the end. Glancing at equipment for verification shouldn't take that much longer...but as I said, we don't have too many "only this long" rules except on pistol...so...it isn't a measuring issue. They can catch most issues visually without a tape measure.
  16. Thanks, we want a challenging match, trying to not get it impossible. Our thinking is a Major 3 gun match should push nearly everybody out of their comfort zone somewhere. Realizing some more so than others. We have been to a "major " match that we could have shot all 10 stages easily in 1 day, many were in the 20 second range. Come to one of our matches you will get our $$'s worth of shooting. Come on!!! Make me feel worse for missing this!!! I really hope we make it next year!
  17. Sounds like you all had a great time at a great match! So sorry we had to miss it! Congratulations!
  18. Looks like a similar weekend to last year's skills match. We have a chance of snow, but by Sunday, Sunny! Today is overcast, but good 3-Gun weather! Come rain or come shine. The stages are up and waiting! See you tomorrow!
